Hmmm. That 160,000 miles most likely does not include too many 1/4 miles; which may place a limit on longevity; though my previous 836 build lasted till 2019, since '81.
And that build included Barnett clutch, which would try to 'walk' at red lights; as you describe Per.
Surprisingly, this year's 836 motor has OEM clutch, running with no slip; while starter clutch is engaging about 1 out of 4 try's.
Ken from CYCLE X had suggested DRIVEN racing oil, which I purchased while finishing my rebuild. But I do 'speculate', that somewhere down the road, I'll likely try SPECTRO, since there seem to be no negative reports.

Generally diesel motor oil has enough ZDDP and many of use use it in our bikes. I run Shell Rotella T5 or T6.

I can confirm this. On my recent run through Africa, I often couldn’t find motorcycle oil so I used diesel oil instead. It worked well; Fuchs Titan is one brand I remember.

The only issue was it was all 15/40 and I’d have preferred 20/50 given the temperature in some places. I guess you can’t have it all.
