Looking again at the bike
What swing arm is that?
How much weight difference do you think there is between your rims and stock?

I usually don’t like 4 into 2 on these but yours look great, nice lines.
That being said, the Yamiya no-number units are great, great looks, great sound. Well made as well.
Your bike really shines, very nice job.
When you are “done” I’ll nominate for bike of the month.

I'd second that.

There was really no functional reason to change back to the drum.  I wasn't happy with the disk carrier I had made so I took it apart to possibly have it machined.  It was never that effective.  The Airheart calipers are pretty weak and I probably needed a bigger master cylinder.  Rather than mess around with it I just switched it back to the drum.

The lower tree is stock I had it chromed years ago when I originally built the bike.

The swingarm is a Dresda replica made by Carpy.

I don't think the wheels are any lighter than stock.  They might even be heavier than a spoked wheel with an alloy rim.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Bike looks awesome in black. Looks great in yellow as well!!
FYI, on my 76 CB750F the rear Henry Abe weighs more than the stock wheel by about 2lbs. I’m not sure about the front.

I noticed you put the new brake hoses direct to the calipers. Did you notice any difference in braking in doing that?

Thanks guys.  It's still winter here in NY so I haven't ridden the bike yet this year.  The lever feels the same as it did with the hard brake lines and braided hoses.  I don't anticipate any different brake feeling.

I picked up some K1 gauges and a unicorn top tree.  The gauges are in good shape.  I will be opening them up to inspect and lube the gears.  I also want to paint the tops and polish the glass.  I'm not sure if I will replace the faces of leave them as they are.

Those have the look of a Route 66 survivor, maybe save those for a theme bike? It's a cool look.

Nice find..... I wanted a set for my Rickman project, but two new replicas and four small led “idiot lights” was so much easier. I keep looking at the low cost “repro” and thinking it would be interesting to open up a set and install the led lights in the gauge face?  May try it on an old speedo I have....

It's polished.  It just looks like chrome in the picture.  It was blasted when I got it so I decided to polish it.  It came out nice.  It goes well with the chromed lower tree.  I ordered crimp rings and new faces for the gauges.  I'm still on the fence about changing the faces.  The glass is clouded up which makes the faces look worse than they really are.  I will post more pics once I get it installed.

I've been hanging the weathered faces on the wall. I should make a display, my latest re-doo didn't need new faces but I took a couple bent up k1's apart for parts. They can go back together with better housings.

I got the gauges and tree mounted.  I also went with a superbike type bar.  I removed about an inch from each end of the bars making them 31" .  The drag bars I was running were only 27" wide.  I also had to get a longer upper brake hose.  I took it for a spin around the block and it felt good.   The wider bars really give extra leverage when turning.

Valley Green Metallic paint set from Yamiya.  I didn't have a ton of time today so I just did some easy assembly and put the side covers on.  The color looks great in the sun and the paint is perfect.  It is much nicer than the black paint I did in my driveway.  I should have some time over the weekend to get it all on the bike and I will take some pictures.

I got all the body parts installed.  The one thing I still have to get is the correct K1 tank badges but the K0 badges look cool too.

Very sharp in green. This has been a big transformation from yellow racer to black stock and now green. And rear disc brake back to drum.
Was the rear HA wheel already a drum wheel?
Braking and different going back to the drum brake?

The rear HA wheel is for the stock drum brake.  I had made a disk carrier that sat inside the drum and was bolted to the hub from the sprocket side of the wheel.  I went back to the drum because it fit the "back to stock" idea and it was really easy to swap.  The disk rear looked racey but it was pretty weak.  The rearsets limit the leverage you can put on the drum.  It's probably a wash as far as rear brake performance between the disk and the drum.

I loved finding the parts and building the Dunstall bike but it was uncomfortable to ride unless you were going fast.  It sucked for just riding around locally and I just didn't ride it.  So the changes were to make it more like a CB750.  There are some things I still want to do like change the exhaust and possibly return to spokes wheels.  It never ends.
