A test of morality
« on: July 08, 2020, 03:28:48 PM »
So I bought compression guages. I bought a Motion Pro, which I used yesterday, around 195 psi. I also got a Bikemaster which hasn't come yet because it has more fittings and the shrader valve is at the plug, so I want to take a look at it.

Well today I get another Motion Pro guage, sh*t must have double ordered... but it's from Dennis Kirk? I didn't order either from Dennis Kirk. The MP was from a ebay sellers some auto sales or something and the Bikemaster is from Motosport.

So I look at the receipt, more $$$ than the one I bought, order info not my name in the sold to, but my name on the deliver to and not my last 4 Visa numbers. I check my bank account and it checks out, everything's right.

My initial reaction was o boy sell this to one of my friends and make a quick buck. I would hate if this happened to me or one of you guys. I think I'm gonna call the lady up later and tell her I have it if she wants to pick it up. She's 20-30 min away. I believe in karma, your deeds come back around to you.

Strange though isn't it? I get what I ordered twice but the second time not from whom I ordered it from.

My only guess is that it was drop shipped from motion pro rather than in the respective retailers, ordered at similar times and apparently from similar places
Its good that you're trying to get it to the owner, saves them a headache of trying to go back and fourth with UPS, Dennis Kirk, etc. I would be annoyed in their situation and that would make it easier to deal with

In the US, federal law states that you may keep things that are shipped to you at your address even if shipped in error. Businesses that commit errors like these are bound to correct them. Karma is not a fickle thing by nature, go with your gut.

Well the plot thickens. I called the number, hard to get a dial but eventually it does and the call cannot be completed. Called twice. I'm going to sit on this and if I don't hear anything sell it.

I believe due diligence in situations like these is appropriate.

I just wonder if this is some kind of identity theft scam; the number is bogus, shipped to the wrong address, etc. Kind of coincidental that you had also just bought a couple of gauges? I would contact the seller and ask what happened..

I've received a half dozen items from Amazon in the past 2 years that I didn't order, didn't see in my account and wasn't charged for. They make great gifts.

That's some DO diligence  :P. English is not my first language

Not my Visa though. I'm profiling here... but Colette doesn't sound like someone interested in a compression guage. I'm going to Google map the address.

Weird! Just had to share this story. Years ago, I ordered 4 X snow tires for my Honda CRX, from SEARS. A few days later, I called asking about my tires. They said “delivered”. We’ll I didn’t have them, so they reshipped.

This went on a few times. Finally, I came home one evening and the Sears truck was out front. I lived in the top half of a big home, in a quiet old neighbourhood. He was putting my four tires on the large front brick porch. None of us ever used that door. He asked; “why do you need 16 snow tires?” I helped him load back 12 in his truck........

UPS put a new race helmet in an unused car thinking we'd find it in there and it would be safer than on the porch. We finally did find it in time for a race we were going to.

Unused car? You don't keep your cars locked?  ???

Anyways I google mapped the address. Looks like a regular neighborhood.

Apparently not that week. I had to choose whether to put the 40 chevy or 69 firebird inside. The 40 Chevy won the dry spot since it was just painted.

My next door neighbor was out walking yesterday, she took a UPS box to the correct house. She mentioned she had also received my packages in the past. Last week the he driver said his computer didn't beep right and was coming back for it just as she went out, I guess reading the house number is too slow.
She also complained about getting the wrong mail at the post office, now she goes for days with no mail then gets a bundle all at once. Our houses both have matching numbers to a nearby street on different routes. 1718 and 1776, chosen by the original owners for obvious reasons.

If you get billed for something you didn't order you can get the credit card company to reimburse the charges. I like ordering stuff through Amazon because they are good about taking care of any problems. A few years ago I got a timing set for my granddaughter's car and the number I received was one digit off from what I ordered. The timing belt in the kit was right but the water pump was different. They sent me the right kit and told me to keep the wrong one. I sold it on Craigslist a couple of days later. The only thing it cost me was time waiting for the right part.
