Okay, I didn't know the 750 ones had flaws that made them easy to lose or break.  That's unfortunate.

I wouldn't call them flawed, exactly. The old plastic is brittle and can crack easily, even when you're being careful. As others have said, using fresh grommets and daubing a bit of grease on them helps.
You only go around once in life so it might as well be on a motorcycle.

I totally agree. It's not a design flaw or change. The old ABS plastic is brittle now. All it takes is leaning against the left cover to crack it. I cracked one a couple years ago myself that way. You can use the old covers if you are very careful.
And yes you have to get new grommets every few years and a dab of silicon grease or spray help prolong the tabs going in without damaging the grommets so they hold the tabs in place.
As to tank liners... I'm not a fan of them because of people not getting all the rust out before they do the sealer. I would pass on a tank with sealer.
Order the new Yamymia set.

Yeah Sean, I believe you are correct. No F's in Japan. 750's anyway. 400F stuff yes. It sure would be nice though if they'd run a batch or two.

I know this is a Yamiya post but F and K  sidecovers are here. I have used at least one of every model he makes and they are the best.
