Tax on tires
« on: February 05, 2021, 04:25:59 AM »
I have to buy tires for the CB900, usually get them at JP cycles.  Well, I either don't remember or something changed.  The total comes to $126 and the tax is $14, seems high at 9%?

But we usually see the total price with tax. Fuel horrible tax.

If I should have company that export.
I guess tourists from USA can get tax back before going home.

Our healtcare becomes worse.
I pay around 35-40% tax on my income. Then 25% on everything I buy.
1L Shell V-Power cost me almost 2 USD.

I thought an out of state seller had to charge the tax of the buyer’s state?

That's what I thought.

It depends if the seller has been determined to have "nexus" in the buyer's state.
If so, the seller is required to collect the tax.
If not, it's up to the buyer to self-report and pay "use tax"; at least that's the rule in Texas.

I paid 6.25% on tires recently, that's my state sales tax.
Purchased online, Illinois I think.

I think I paid $127 including 6.25% tax and free shipping. www.compacc.com 100/90-19 and 130/90-17 Shinko 230 Tour Masters. Just looked and the free shipping promo is still on.

Edit: rear tire I bought was 17". I received them in 8 days or so.

I ended up buying tires from this guy:

https://www.ebay.com/usr/chaparralmotosports?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Order placed on 2/5/2021, tires showed up on the 8th of February.  Shinko 712 for the CB900C.  Free shipping  and $6.98 was the tax.

And no, the picture had nothing to do with it  ;D

They're a good outfit too, I've bought from them several times in the past from their big, thick print catalog.
