I did have one of their albums but I never was what you may consider a really big fan however one can't deny that Eddie helped define '80s rock guitar.

Funny that you say that because I did go to concert of theirs and I think it was the "1984" album tour.

Van Halen's style of rock was needed for a greater variation. Nice melodies that stucked, became a fan around 1978-79.
I like their guitars and song, not hysterical.

I was at that same show in Houston in 84’.  I also saw them in 1998 in the Woodlands when Gary Cherone was the singer.

I think that was the only time I ever went to the Woodlands.  I basically lived at the Summit when I was young.  I even worked there for a while too.  Got paid to watch concerts.  Saw a lot of shows at the old Colosseum and the Music Hall too.

Small world Bud, I also worked at the Summit, security!   My neighbor was a security supervisor and he needed a ride to work so he got me in.  Saw a lot of great shows up close, either at the barrier or 10 rows back.  U2 blew me away, 1985? I didnt know much about them before that show.

That where I saw Van Halen too, but I didnt work it, my roommate at the time got the tics.

Now that place is a gigantic church! [I dont care for Osteen]

I worked at the Summit in 79’ or 80’ as an usher and a ticket taker.  After everyone was in and seated they would let us off and we could go find an empty seat and watch the rest of the show.  I liked to get there early because sometimes we would catch the bands doing a sound check.  The best show I saw there was ZZ Top, all three nights in a row for the Deguello tour.  I was right up front for all three nights.  I think they paid us like $12/night.  I messed up.  I could have seen The Who, but I decided I wanted to stay home and work on my car so I quit.  They always wanted us to work basketball games and ice capades, but I only worked concerts.

I think the last show I saw there (as a paying fan) was AC/DC with Slash’s Snakepit as the opening act.  That was the late 90’s.

It’s Lakewood church now.  Been there once to watch a friend play bass.  Not an Osteen fan either.
