Topic: best gasket kit for 77 cb550

Can anyone recommend the best gasket kit to get.  I have been searching for them and find many options but they all seem to lack the six rubber discs that seal the head bolts under the valve cover.  I would also love to get a kit that includes piston rings.  I saw one kit that looked decent for about $120 but the shipping was an additional $60 which seemed a little ridiculous

You're much better off buying the OEM rubber discs, the ones included in gasket sets are always inferior quality and usually too thin.

Piston rings included in a gasket set? I've never heard of this, there are too many variables to account for.

David Silver for both, but why do you need rings?

I'm removing the top end and thought I might as well replace the rings while I have it off.

Not worth it unless broken and or too big a gap.
Expensive and bore will be slightly out of round anyway

Care to elaborate on how or why it will be out of round? About to tear mine down as well and replace all gaskets and was gonna check ring gap and put new if it needed it.

Read Marks book ( hondaman) where he explains that multi heat cycles alters the "nature" of the metal in the linerand it settles down very slightly oval so re ringing actual worsens compression
