KLR650
« on: April 01, 2021, 06:26:50 PM »
Sold my wife’s ‘08 KLR650 today. We bought two of them when they were new, and did a few big trips. The best was six weeks of riding in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Quebec and Labrador (all the way to Red Bay). Last few years, she rides the K3 when we do local rides and really not many. A few years ago I stopped buying annual stickers for the plates and insuring it, and she never noticed!

A guy I know was bugging me for it, and she decided to let it go. Needed a new rear tire for a “safety” and I astounded myself by changing it over in less than an hour! Including balancing. Dunlop D750 Tire, comes on them new and had to buy the replacement from a Kaw. Dealer. Big, soft knobby, even the old one came off easily.

I have 37000 miles on mine and I will never sell it. Wonderful bike, sorry to see her’s  go, but it’s got 1/2 the mileage and the guy will really use it. One less to look after!

A friend bought one last year after wanting one for a decade, great bikes. It hasn't let him down yet and has provided countless adventures despite his low buy-in and the level of PO neglect. I might have to consider one before they stop selling fuel.

I always had a soft spot for those, but never stumbled upon one at must have price.

Isn't it the same engine since 1987?

Yes..... You should try one. Huge value/$. The body style changed a bit in 2008. I’ve had mine since then and will ride it forever. Super reliable, starts every time and very comfortable. I added some cheap Givi bags, a centre stand and a slightly taller wind screen. The lowered Corbin seat is on it right now (my wife uses it when she comes riding). I prefer the stock “log” as I can move around on it. The Corbin is a “bucket”. Lovely bike!
