How many years?
« on: August 03, 2021, 05:28:39 PM »
I am so happy as I took the first ride in five years on my 750k2 this past Saturday. I went 58 miles. My knees had gone bad and I did not trust myself to hold the bike up at a stop. Two years ago I had both knees replaced at the same time. This summer was the time for the ride. I bought my bike new on August 8,1972 for $1498.00. We have been over 50,000 miles together. It took me a few miles to get up to speed as 45 initially seemed fast. That is different than the late 70's when I cruised interstates at 95 MPH and traveled 750 miles in 10 total hours. Anyway on to the post. When I took my ride I was a 69 year old guy riding a 49 year old bike. That is a total of 118 years. I am sure someone has this beat. Post up your totals. Thanks so much for reading, Dan  PS: If you click on the picture it shows correct.

Can't match that; I'm a 1953 model on a 1972.

I am sure someone has this beat.

Wait until Terry comes along, if he makes a total of his bikes! 😃

Great reading, Whaleman. Must feel good to be able to ride again.

I'll drink to your 58 miles dan. I don't have bad knees and I will be turning the lordy lordy  guess who's 40 this October but haven't gone more than 15 or 20 miles in one go since I put mine together in 2017. I'll get there though. Keep on riding!

Not me, but yesterday I met a 94 yr old fellow on a CB350 (twin) he bought new in 1972. Not showroom condition but incredibly clean and original. He had the shop nearby put new tires on and do some tune-up work.

It's good to see you post again,  I'm 68 on a 69 but I didn't keep my bought new bike, I sat 750less for 20 years.

67 on a '73 for a total of only 115......and it is only a 350 Four!  I was moving it around the garage a couple of days ago, and it is somewhat of a struggle. No bad knees yet, but the early symptoms can't be ignored, and I am trying to enjoy the bike as much as possible before that happens.
But way to go, Whaleman! I wish you many more years on your new knees!

I'm 71 with a K4 750 and my first Honda, a '67 305 Scrambler.  Yes they're registered/insured and I ride 'em every chance I get.  Grateful everyday I get to ride.  It still puts a smile on my face and just "gearing up" still gets me excited about starting up a bike and going for a ride!  It doesn't get any better than that:)

Not the highest for me at (just!) 113, which is fine with me.  I remember being in a meeting at work a couple of years ago and realizing I was the oldest in the room by quite a margin.  I could remember when I was generally the youngest in the room, seemed like not so long ago.  The switcher-oo happened so fast, I hadn't noticed it until then. ;D

I'm 76 years old & I have a 1970 CB750 and a 1975 GL1000. So for the CB my total is 76+51 = 127 (if I understand the rules correctly)

Except for the 95 year older with the 350 twin ( which does not count here) you are the winner so far. Congrats. PS: You can only count the years from when you last rode the bike. Meaning an 82 year old man with a K0 that has not ridden since 1995 does not count. Dan  PS: Rules are made up on the fly.
