The reason for all this centerstand stuff is that the one on my K1 seems to have gone Tango Uniform. The bike has become impossible to lift onto the stand. When, after Herculean effort and some help it does get up, the " foot" you step on to get it up is touching the floor. On my other CB750's, as well as on my BMW's, the "foot" you step on is about 1/2 inch off the floor when the bike is up
I had to look up Tango Uniform....... It's been a long while since I had anyone give the TU slang.
Check the pad of your stand for rust from setting in moist floor. I worked on a 74 last year that when cleaned up with a wire wheel to get the rust off for painting revealed some Swiss cheese beginning on the left foot. If the foot has collapsed that will make it hard to get it up as both feet have to be equally on the ground to rock up smoothly.
