I've considered trimming the windshield on my GL's windjammer, my helmet is a couple inches below the slip stream. It has the vents that don't really do much when they blow into the back of a stereo. I'm not usually a radio on a bike guy but on I90 coming back from Sturgis it did break the boredom.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

I've had all 3 on my Vetter: the above-the-forehead, the at-the-forehead and the 2"-below-the-forehead versions. I much prefer the lower ones. During the 55 MPH era the at-the-forehead version was better than the lower one that I had before the 55 MPH era, but at speeds over 65-ish MPH I much like the lowest type. It puts your eyes over the top of it while the wind is just cresting at the top of my (open-face) helmets, on which I wear a 1/4-length (made by me) shield with visor. The shortest windshield, at higher speeds, provides the clearest road views and least buffeting when big trucks on 2-lanes try to remove you from the pavement. As the windshields get progressively taller, the back-suction into the windshield from passing trucks get more and more severe. I currently have one of the middle-height ones mounted mostly because I've been largely commuting to work with it these past 5 years and seldom get above 40 MPH for long, and when it suddenly snows without warning here, or rains, it is easier to duck behind it to avoid wetness in my face. I call it the "commuter length" windshield, halfway between the shortest one for touring and the tallest one for [something I don't do?].

Years ago I had a Vetter for a time, I never really liked it, I felt it was too heavy. I decided to just put up with whatever came at me. I never put a fairing on my 75 Wing.
