No additional vibrations with those extensions?

I upgraded the mirrors back in the 80's with Z1-900 mirrors on my K6. They worked much better than stock CB750. Clearer sight at higher speed and  I think longer arms.

Today shiny stock due to the look from other direction ;D

Not much degradation, the Rebuilt motor has balanced crank & rods, balance clutch basket & improved clutch. It remains useful to about 65mph, after that it gets a little buzzy.  Even with the extensions much better than original motor.

I considered those from e-bay, but their length is not enough to extend the mirrors far enough to have a good view behind. That is why I made my own, expecting the view to be buzzy from vibration; but I am happy to report that the view is as clear as without them. I think that drilling the holes in them exactly as the diameter of the mirror stem (10 mm) helped. In the end, I still do not understand why they don't make longer stems to compensate for the huge choice of bars available on the market.

6. I made the mirror extensions with 2, 3 mm thick steel material; no more elbows in the mirrors!
Hey, those are cool! I might have to do that with my 350F, too. Thanks for the idea!

I bought these Aluminum mirror extensions on eBay. about $12 per set.

Interesting: I studied on Quatro's version for my 750 because it would make the mirror stem hit the side of the windshield on my Vetter, although my 750 doesn't really need extensions. Some riders would bend the stalk of the mirror around the windshield to correct this, but the chrome always flaked off for doing it. But, would these gizmos let you rotate the mirror's thread socket back, over the handlebar (or close to it)? If so, this would be desireable for the 750/500/550 arrangement with the Vetter because the forward position of the mirror threads on the grip mounts cause the mirror geometry to be at max twist to obtain the full-behind road view. If the mirror's base could be moved back toward the rider to almost over the bar, it could work.

In the day, some riders would install the mirror mounts from the smaller Hondas, like the CB125, that clamped on the bar - but they had to be bored out first to fit the larger 750 bar diameter, and the master cylinder had to be slid inward on the bar on throttle side, making the rider reach further for the lever.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

The demons are repulsed when a man does good. Use that.
Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

The most sensible mods for riding one of these bikes regularly are:
Tapered steering bearings
Bronze top hat swingarm bushings
Dual disk front brake
Decent rear shocks
Progressive fork springs or even rate springs and emulators
New tires and wheel bearings

Each of these mods can be accomplished in a few hours by themselves or you can do them all at once in a weekend.  The results are a bike that is more stable, handles better and stops better.

Fun question thread.

There are a few farkles on my cb that get the head shaking chuckle from people.

The list isn't too long.  But a few things make mine unique.

Foam emgo grips, single emgo mirror, tachometer deleted itself so thats gone.
Super bike bars on a painted top triple
old nirvana punk wristband around the brake master tank
Exhaust is painted and paired with the old yoshimura race can.  The pipe hangs from a strap around the rear set hoop.
K model side covers badgered onto an F frame.  Hand drawn lettering tribute.
A couple polished and brushed engine and carb covers.
Wooly mammoth seat covering, hides the cracks, feels nice though.
Ninja 250 aluminum passenger pegs
The iron cross throwover bags hold a few essentials.
Finned bobber style led turn lamps
Those lousy nitrogen shocks

Stuff that isn't seen -
Cb650 cam
Pamco timing
OMP reg rec components
Tooled finish and port matched intake runners
Polished and deshrouded cylinder domes.
Fully restored carb rack with FtEpa jetting

There's two homemade accessories that people either love or hate.
Rising Sun pedestrian slicer
Stainless steel center stand stop...made from some dumb mall-ninja fantasy sword.

In 1982 there was a SOHC CB650SC, the last of the SOHC Fours.

It's cam like the 79-82 CB650 was a drop-in upgrade to CB500&550's with higher lift and longer duration.
