Carb jetting
« on: March 04, 2022, 06:43:44 AM »
Just recently purchased a new 1996 cb750. Im looking to put pod filters on and do an air box/boot delete to make it easier to work on and gain a little performance. the has a supertrapp pipe and headers stock otherwise the bike runs mint with just  carb sync. I am relatively new to carbs but with some help i can figure it out. the question: if I put pod filters on my bike will it need to be re-jetted or can i just tune it using the air screws (i have a super trapp pipe and headers) if it does need to be jetted what jets should i start with. also any carb tunning advice would be greatly appreciated.

1996 cb750 is not a SOHC.
Post in "Other bikes" unless you pressed wrong buttons if you have a 1976.

It is very unlikely that you would need to increase your mains by +6 just due to pods and a pipe. Have you checked with Supertrapp to see what they recommend?

Before this gets moved it should be said that you won’t gain performance with this. It may feel like you will because of more noise coming out of the air box but you’ll gain no power. More likely you’ll lose power. Not trying to be a Debbie downer or trying to discourage you, just trying to keep it real.

If you’re not an experienced “carb jetter” then you won’t be able to get as smooth as a power band as Honda’s engineers did. I really encourage you to find a place to dyno the bike before and after. I had a place near me in CT that I could do 3 pulls for $40. If you want to know if you gain or lose power, this is the only real way to be certain. It will also give you a good idea where you’re rich or lean on different throttle positions.
