CB550 - 022A carbs stock jetting
« on: April 17, 2022, 12:35:29 PM »
Hi All,

Let me start by saying that I tried to search the forum extensively before asking but cant seem to find the exact info im looking for

I'm working on a 1977 CB550F
The carbs that came on it are stamped 022A.
They had 105 mains, 42 pilots, and needle clipped in middle position (third position from top)

This is a custom build and will get a 4-1 open exhaust and pods of some sort.

I'm wondering if anyone has on hand what the stock jetting for the 022a carbs are so I can have a starting point to jet from? I'd like to lower the needle clip one notch and bump up the main jets but im not sure what my starting point is!

Also what is the float height for the 022A carbs? 14.5mm or 22mm?

It's 22mm. 14,5mm is the later much different PD carbs. Attached an overview I've composed of the data concerning oldstyle CB500/550 carbs. Strange you've missed it in your search. I've posted it dozens of times. Anyway, the 022A is in it. At least it's a starting point.

Thanks so much. Where was this hiding?

That helps greatly. I think for pods and more open exhaust I'll go to 105 mains and keep the needle at the 4th notch and go from there.

Thanks again for the help
