Well done Alan, how do you like it? Don’t forget to post your ride in the “22 rides in 2022” thread. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks for that reminder Terry.

How do I like it...hmm, where to begin...
I'm very impressed with the fuel injection, you can roll on the throttle at pretty much any speed in any gear and it just goes without chugging painfully. You can also gently roll off the throttle and decelerate confidently in most any situation. I don't know if I activated the ABS at any point, but I was riding on some sand covered twisties and a few dirt roads with full confidence in the bike. Having not ridden in 5 or 6 years I was very wobbly on my test ride, which was all residential, stop sign to stop sign. After ten minutes or so of that I felt pretty comfortable.

There are a few tendencies toward wobbly riding that I'll need to iron out, I've been watching videos and reading forum posts and the general consensus is to do all of the things any of us would do with any old bike. I wouldn't expect that, but it's sorted easily enough I guess.

Reports that the mirrors are cheap and buzzy, and the foot pegs are in a horrible location seem to have skipped this bike altogether, or I'm better fitted to it than some.

I'm shopping for a tall seat and some pegs that are stepped lower, I was experiencing the sort of hip pain that PeWe has mentioned a few times.

I've got pile of cheap bits & bobs on the way, more to report soon. I'll send the seller's plate back and get it all legal in my name soon, looks like a busy work week ahead though.

There is a really good RE forum that was started years ago by the Minnesota based RE importer. Classic Motor Works. I was worried about what would happen to it when RE formed Royal Enfield America and started importing themselves, but the forum is still very active. This was the first forum I joined when I got back into riding back in 2006 by acquiring my dad's 2002 Royal Enfield bullet 500ES. At the time it was the official forum, now it has to call itself the 'Unofficial Royal Enfield Community Forum." it's still a great place though: forum.classicmotorworks.com

This was the final form of my Bullet  before I sold it.

Yes i've joined there too, they have good traffic and a good mix of International members, only around half of them are smart-asses like me ;D it's nice to have some advice regarding what works well and what doesn't on any specific bike.

I was looking at other forums but there's not much traffic at the forum owned by Vertical Scope, only like 8 posts in their 650 section. I've started shying away from their forums in general.

If they'll actually let me Title and Register this bike I might even get some ride time in. Not to turn this into the pissed off thread, but I tried to walk in to the Registry twice this week and was turned away both times. I took the soonest appointment, but that's still a week away. It's bull#$%*, I've been on call 20 hours/day for nearly 20 years and I get turned away before 2pm? It's more than insulting.
They think they're working hard though.

I blame myself for making the uninformed assumption that it would be possible for them to take my fees and sales tax on a walk in visit, I didn't even bother trying this morning, maybe another morning this week.

Thanks for the perspective, I'm more fortunate than I thought.

I’ve only just discovered that I can effect a registration transfer online. I bought my Ducati (which hasn’t turned a wheel apart from a short ride back in March or April) from a guy who was way more savvy than me.

The bike came with a Roadworthy Certificate and he’d filled out his portion of the transfer papers so I said something about me taking it to VICROADS (DMV) and he said, “No, just do it online”, so when I came back from the BMW hell ride, I remembered and jumped online and yep, was able to do it all on the spot without any contact with pubic serpants. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I think they have 40 different transactions that you can do online here, but this isn't one of them.

Good discovery for you though.

I've got some handlebar risers and just today received my GPS mount, I'll see what time I have available tomorrow.

Well the risers won't be going on this bike, they're 22mm 7/8" but the bolt spacing is wider than on Japanese bikes. I'll keep them for something else.
I put on the GPS mount and bolted on the license plate.

Mine looks like this except I don't have the gaiters, crash bars, Saree gaurd, or fly sceen.

These are a good representation, break out the good headphones.
