Well I went to an estate sale this morning and picked up a $10 valve spring compressor and a shop apron. 🙃

Nice find! That style usually has two or three different, interchangeable ends for different size valve springs.
Maybe I will have to go back today and see if they are somewhere in the boxes??

Go for it. They are probably there!
Nope. Not there....
But it just works as it is on the 750 and gl1100 valves.
I'm thinking of trying to get a rubber to fit the valve head(cup in picture) to add length and have a soft surface to hold the valve head.

I just extended another shop item by using a rubber stopper from the end of a walking cane (local hardware store). It was about an inch deep, so I filled 1/2 the gap with flap washers and siliconed it in place!
That might work.
I was thinking of getting a rubber stopper to size of the cup, using silicone and bending the edges in on the rubber to hold it in place.

I made mine from an old scissor jack. The end of the thread has a bearing, I can't remember why I had to make a slip on extension piece at some point. The bottom uses an appropriate sized socket for the valve being removed. This tool has worked for every head I've done the valve seals on so far.
