Here's my 73 750
« on: April 16, 2023, 05:30:21 AM »
So this is my new to me 73 cb 750 and I have an engine on the way! As of currently I'm waiting for a brake rod setup and a new chain. I'm excited I've always wanted to own one and now I do!

Yes as of now I'm going to keep the engine stock. Yes it's a hard tail. I'm not sure if it's home brewed or a kit that someone put on. But I dig it  😀 only thing I've been struggling with really so far is the tank. I have one but from internet searching it seems to be a sportster tank that has some poor welds on it.

The original engine that was in it was blown up unfortunately. I'm pretty sure it's the engine that came with it as well. I'm going to rebuild it at a later date that way I have another back up engine.

Sounds like good plan. Nice job getting the engine back in. There are Shop Manuals to download around here somewhere.

Left coil is 1/4, the 1/4 coil has a blue wire plugged into it, the 2/3 coil a yellow wire.

Okay awesome ! I belive the person who had this engine listed it wrong . I belive its a 76 engine but the Supersport model. It had studs for the exhaust that I converted over to the 73k exhaust flange and the points wires are blue and white l. Can anyone confirm?

Look up the engine VIN on the chart here to determine what year it is...

Got another question. The oil tank that is pictured has a breather line at the top were the fill cap is located and it also has a long breather line that is on the left side of the tank and that originally plugged into the engine breather port on the lower back portion of the engine. My question is do I need to re attach this breather line or can I leave it left off ?

Your aftermarket oil tank appears to have the same separate vent line and connection to the spigot like an early stock tank. If the tank is indeed the same as stock on the inside, oil will occasionally drain out of that hose, so it should be connected to the spigot on the back of the engine so it can be returned to the crankcase instead of dumping on the ground.
