Supporting mods for Yoshi Daytona (B) Cam
« on: September 24, 2023, 02:34:48 PM »
Picked up what was advertised as a Yoshi Daytona cam, the one marked with a 'B' on the end.  I want to put this in my project bike but don't know what is needed vs recommended as supporting mods.  From what I've searched so far, better valve springs are the only must have.  Anyone run this cam with close to stock engine?

I had one in my 812. It's in my basement now and the basement runs like a scalded monkey LOL. Stronger springs are a good idea. It comes on strong at about 7000rpm. It will basically drop in but degreeing it is always recommended.

I can give you specs from the card, etc if you need. BUT, I will only have access until Tuesday afternoon.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Specs or info on how to degree appreciated. For now I’ll plan on springs and not go up in bore.

Almost same specs as a Megacycle 125-70. Better check your valve to piston clearance and the stock piston valve reliefs are very shallow.

My Megacycle 125-75 (billet version of 125-70) hit the cam holder.
I had to massage the cam holder, file clearance for a few lobes. Ca: 0.25 mm clearance. "Pit area" in head under cam OK.

A friend had to grind his head when his KH-F cam hit head. His head had not that deep molded "pits" under cam.

My RC 295 profile cam had no clearance issues. Maybe its base circle was smaller.
But its exhaust lift is smaller than 125-75.

KH-D cam did not go free on stock K7/8 pistons. Cruzinimage version. Its higher dome on not involved.
Pistons with deeper pockets needed.

Financial deeper pockets a help when installing new pistons, restore head that can be ported for the cam when doing guides, valves and seats ;)

An older client of mine has a similar saying when it comes to deep pockets..

He says money and manhood are similar. One always feels he could do better with more..😁
