Anyone have a source for the 9-pin Stator harness plug?
« on: December 12, 2023, 10:45:11 AM »
Working on assembling my '71 CB500 wiring.  I'm using a new main harness and sub-harness for a '72-'73 with the spade connector plugs.  I also have a later model sub harness mounting plate to match the spade connector plugs.

The issue I'm having, is my original stator has the old style round pin plug.  I'd like to change the plug to match the new harness 9-pin spade plug but can't seem to find anyone who sells them.

I bought the sub-harness from 4-into-1, and they don't sell the male plug to fit their harness, or even a new stator with the correct plug attached.  I checked Common-Motor too, and they only sell 4,6, and 8 pin plugs.

Is there a source for the correct 9-pin spade male connector out there?  If not, does anyone have a good used stator wire harness that they want to part with?

Thanks,
Pete

Only place you will get that is on a later 500 or 550 stator, or ghange the one on the sub loom after you get a pair

Buy a 71 harness.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply...  but I already have the '72 harness, sub harness, and sub harness plate installed and wired into the bike.  All I need if the stator plug.

How about Vintage Connections?

Thanks for this link, it looks like they have a similar plug although it is a non-latching plug.  I ordered one to give it a try.

Cheers,
Pete

I got a 9-pin spade plug for my 550 from an ebay seller about 6 years ago but it appears he doesn't have that item any more.
I ordered this item:
Nylon Latching Connector Pair 9-pin 6.3mm 1/4 Male/Female 18-14 AWG #E37G
However, googling that description now doesn't produce much.  :(
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

Yep, I scoured the internet for a couple of hours and couldn't find anything.  I think the non-latching plug will work fine, if it fits into the sub-harness plate.  I'll post pics when I get it.

Get both halves, its easy to swap the connectors from one to another

Yep, I order both halves, just in case they don't fit with the plug on the sub-harness.  If not, I can swap the sub-harness plug out for the new one.
