Gap between my throttle grip
« on: August 30, 2024, 11:26:38 AM »
Can someone explain to me why I have a gap between my throttle grip ? They came with the bike when I purchased it.

Wrong size grip length?

Looks like you have clip ons, you might be able to loosen the screws on the starter switch and slide it over some?

Aftermarket throttle tubes can be different lengths also. When the right control comes right, the throttle tube has to come with it so if there is empty grip the tube can fill it. If there is not, you can trim the throttle tube to fit the grip. I usually use compressed air blown under the grip to help lift it away from the tube to get it moving.

Do those bar-end mirrors add length under the rubber? Some bar-end mirrors like those have about 1" of bar-end on them that installs into the ends of the handlebars. Those portions are usually chromed like the rest of the mirror set and are not intended to be underneath the throttle grip itself: they are supposed to stick out from the ends of the bars instead. In order to make that happen, the ends of the grips must be cut off.

If you want to use those grips, cut the end of the throttle tube and slide the assembly outboard. Alternately get longer grips. If you gave the grip dimensions needed then someone could advise accurately or you could look at the vendor options available. (5 1/2 inch grips on mine)
