VIN Frame Stamping Kit?
« on: August 29, 2024, 01:26:57 AM »
Been a while since I’ve posted, hope everyone is doing well.

Anyone have a link to a good stamp kit for stamping the VINs on the steering neck? Most kits I find the characters are small but on these bikes they are tall and thin.

This is for my ‘75/‘78/‘79 550/650/674cc hybrid so I don’t think it really needs to match that closely, but I want to put in some effort. At the moment the bike doesn’t have a stamped VIN because the frame was replaced.

I have a set I bought from a used tool seller locally here in Nashua NH that are close to the font for my 750. You could come up here and stamp your frame with it.
From my search most said Honda didn't offer any stamp kits for the replacement frames or cases.

I saw an ad for a set that was custom made and out of reach dollar wise. It looked pretty scammy also.
I gave up, borrowed a set of generic stamps and hand stamped my 750K2 that has a replacement frame. Then I got a perfect replacement number plate from the guy Switzerland.  Oddly, I found another K2 that was hand stamped last year but they lost that title too.

Looks like I need to update my location. I moved to Sweden so I’m not really local to New England anymore, haha. Appreciate the offer and those stamps do look closer to what I’m seeing on eBay and Amazon at the moment. Oddly popular are the ones that have little dots that make up the characters which I don’t like at all.

Might be what I end up doing (I mean the eBay stamps). I need to go through an inspection and part of it is having the frame stamped.

Yeah I wonder… Thanks to you and your son! You saved the day after it took me months to figure out my original steering neck was bent and me wondering why the hell my front wheel was misaligned after my fork replacement. Good to hear from you Cal!

I think you mentioned Söderbärke close to road 66?

I was actually born here so I’m a citizen. Long story short, my brother and sister moved to the UK on work visas and I made some friends in Scotland as I visited them. I tried to get a visa there but it didn’t work out (brexit issues) so I made the choice to go to Sweden to be at least a little bit closer to their families. I don’t really have any major responsibilities like kids so I was able to just up and go. Scotland is amazing and I love it but I have to say the weather here in Sweden is very nice. And I shipped my bikes over too, that’s all I need!

Yup, I’m here in Söderbärke. I’m just off route 66 so if you do a flyby I’ll probably hear it! Sometimes I do hear bikes and I think to myself, that did sound a bit like a SOHC4…nah probably not.

And yeah, the ride up to Ludvika is really nice! Once I get these bikes registered (I know it’s been a while) I’ll let you know and you can show me some of the best rides.
