I have been a lurker on this site for a while, but it's about time I introduced myself. You see, I just bought a first-generation Honda, and this is the site to seek wisdom and inspiration. My experience with motorcycles is next to nil. But my interest goes way back, back to high school. In the mid-seventies, a friend brought a motorcycle magazine to school. It had an article on cafe-racers. Now, I was a car guy, and still am, but the descriptions of cafe bikes fascinated me. Taking a bike and stripping it down to its bare essentials, and improving the suspension and making more horsepower, was the same principals applied to building any muscle car or hot rod. I could relate to this. I currently am having an engine built for my Mercury Cyclone and when that is installed, that project will mostly be over. The bike is my retirement project. I have been a machinist for most of my life. I currently work for one of the big airlines, but I will be retiring in about a year. I have a decent shop and plenty of tools, but I will rely on you guys for expertise. Thanks in advance for answering my silly questions. I will post pictures of the bike (what there is of it) in a separate post
