Well Andy, I thought I was going to shock you with what I paid at Tesco this morning.

It might still come as a shock, you being a Scot and knowing how we are taxed over here on booze.

I paid £1.65p for a third of a litre.

If you pay $9 for half a litre, that makes a litre $18, yes.....a third of $18 is $6 that = £3...so I didn't do to bad ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sam. ;)

Hey Sam, I think you`ll need to ship ME some of the good stuff  ;) Clearly Tescos has a better deal than my local places..although I always think Im getting screwed here on beer when I have to pay $5 for a pint of beer...if you compare that dollar for pound its like paying 5 quid for a pint!!!  :o...so when I come to Glasgow and only have to pay 2 pounds 30 pence (or whatever it is) I drink double as it feels cheap to me ;-)

enjoy the Chimay,
We`ll need to get Johnny in Belgium (Brussels) to send us all a case as it must be as cheap as water there....)
cheers
Andy

Yeah I know that its not really a fiver but if you take $1 = 1 pound (as a direct comparison) then it FEELS like it  ;)...its like a loaf of bread here is $3.30 and I dont remember paying that much in Tescos!  ::) (at whatever exchange rate or conversion you use)...

Enjoy,
Andy

I have no idea wat I pay for this, but it is worth every cent.

Tried sending this stuff to Bruce many years ago. All he got was a bag full of broken bottles. These things do not travel well.
But I am holding the 10th WER this year, you can all come over and enjoy the delights of Belgium.

My favorite local pub will sell you a bottle of some fine Belgium beers at the following prices:

Rochefort 10° is $12.95 for 750 ml
Chimay Cinq Cents is $12.59 for 750 ml
Chimay Grande Reserve is $12.95 for 750 ml
Chimay Premiere is $10.95 for 750 ml
Deus Brut de Flanders is $35.95 for 750 ml

I can buy them at my beverage store for the following prices:

Rochefort 10° is $89.95 for 12 - 750 ml bottles which works out to $7.50 per bottle
Chimay Cinq Cents is $85.95 for 12 - 750 ml bottles which works out to $7.16 per bottle
Chimay Grande Reserve is $89.95 for 12 - 750 ml bottles which works out to $7.50 per bottle
Chimay Premiere is $79.95 for 12 - 750 ml bottles which works out to $6.66 per bottle
Deus Brut de Flanders is N/A

Last time I purchased a case, I split it with my brother.  I drank my six bottles much too quickly.  This weekend we have the Penn State Annual Blue/White Football game.  I think it may be time to purchase another case. And enjoy it on what will be our first sunny day in many weeks.
