Something like this?

Redoing a barn find 750F and am going to use a reg/rec combo instead of the stock stuff that is in place. Any reason why I couldn't use something like that, over say a Rick's unit?

Not sure, I got my combo from Yamiya, it was listed as compatible with the SOHC 750 four.

That unit won't work with an SOHC charging system; there should be a black wire and a white wire for the regulator portion.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Yeah missed that.

Needs field / ground / ignition etc.

I'll go with a Rick's.

That may work with a CB350 twin or the like?

Also: The cheaper they are the lower the charging threshold, just saying from experience (Bought some $20 ones to test, idle volts: about 11v and change, revving engine to 3000 rpms: about 12.2v, and that was on a chopper with led lights)

Just that its 50 year old electronics and not super efficient anymore.

I will run it for now. I have always had good luck with Rick's keeping my batteries in good shape.
