Hello from Canada!
Just picked up a 1984 Honda Nighthawk CB650SC, my first older bike after borrowing and learning on a newer Rebel for the last year or so.
Familiar to wrenching on cars and machinery but this is my first foray into motorcycle-dom. I decided to find a cheaper, older running bike that just needed some TLC to sharpen my skills and give me some excuses to get off the couch, rather than splurging on a newer bike (foolish??)
So far I've replaced the sparks and battery, figured out there's a charging issue and possibly narrowed it down to the R/R, decided to replace the spark leads and boots as they're worn and cracked, figured I'd give the tank a good cleaning and tear the carbs down for a good bath in the ultrasonic cleaner.
Am I a fool? Have I bitten off more than I can chew right at the start of riding season? Maybe... but either way, I do intend to find out the fun way.
A huge thanks to all the info and advice I've read as a guest on here the last few months. Decided to get involved and start posting.
