I cannot find earl 750 carb top gaskets anywhere!
« on: July 21, 2025, 01:37:05 PM »
It’s like I’m in the twilight zone?? Early 1970 1-4 cable- “top gaskets” I thought I had them with Honda-16171-275-004 but the center hole is too small!?

I made a die from a piece of sharpened tubing to punch out the big hole over the small hole.
I might be in the twilight zone myself, but out of 4 sets, I never found early carbs that had any top gaskets in them until I put them in myself, including a 7,000 mile sandcast.
Be very careful with the threads when you put the tops back on, the threads are fine and the metal is soft and the spring wants to hold the top plate off center. The gasket uses up some of the thread area.

No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Yes Don, that’s what we are doing next :) The link posted won’t work, the hole is way too small.

yea that looks right in the pic, I’ll have to measure the caps for minimum hole size & then call them if possible.

I still have a few sets of these - made from fibre-reinforced Nitrile and laser cut to an original pattern. Drop me a pm on here.

I used these (and a set on James’ carb clamps) on my S/C project and they are perfect!
