When I was a kid (in the early 60's long ago) my buddy lived next to a motorcycle shop. I remember seeing those windshields on the old Harleys and Triumphs that came and went down the shared driveway. Back then they had a lot of leather bags, reflector jewels and fringe tassels hanging all over.
I have a set of leather saddlebags made by a horse accessory maker for my buddy's CX500??. I'll have to throw them on a bike and get a pic.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

My Thai friend contacted the seller this morning and he also has a yellow tinted one for sale? I imagine that shipping from Japan would be expensive but they are already here in Thailand.

Everyone has different viewpoints on front fairings/windshields.  Here is my take.

I'm not a hater but based on my own personal riding style they normally don't work for me.  Enormous frame mounted fairings (like Vetter windjammers or Goldwings)  take away from the overall rider experience (JMHO). I can see how they are very useful and very comfortable for high speed, racing, or long distance touring.  I do like very small windshields mounted near or around the headlight.

Handlebar mounted windshields I really don't like.  Any extra added weight on the handlebars immediately affects handling and stability.

I'd never fall out with anyone over it. But, I see naked bikes like the CB750 (Enfields, Z900RS etc.) with significant money spent on fairings, saddlele bags, saddles, even sissy bars and bar risers etc. I can't help thinking that money could have gone on getting an old Harley. Then you have the best of both worlds. Naked classic sports bike one day and utility / cruiser the next. And you're likely to lose less of your investment when you come to sell. But fair enough, their bike and money.

The only time I wince a bit is when irreversible changes are made to a a good bike. But again, their bike, their vision. Also, one less to compete with mine when my family come to sell off the old junk in the garage!

Eh. My bike is no different w the Asahi windshield aside from the fact that I don't get the crap beat outta me at highway speeds.

It simply clamps to the handlebars and weighs next to nothing so no effect on handling, and it's on or off in about as quick as it takes to check and fill the tires.

As far as bags go, I'd rather not wear a backpack, so I'll probably mount some canvas saddle bags that match the windshield's lower curtain.

In the end, looks are subjective but it's all period correct for a vintage sporty-ish Japanese commuter bike.

Yeah. Like it's maybe 1-2 lb (US) or so. I think total shipping weight was less than 4.5lbs.

The mini is the right height to keep the wind off your chest and just a bit off your face when sitting up.

Bōsōzoku motorcycle gangs riot in Hiroshima, Japan. 1999.  Both the police and outlaws wear dark blue and white 'uniforms'.  Also ironic is that the police also use shields.

I totally understand that these windshields will not be everyone's cup-of-tea.  But if you had to choose between clear and yellow tinted which would you choose?  I know yellow tints  are very contentious (some say yellow provides a higher contrast and better for night driving?)   but because of the small size of the windshield I believe I will be mostly looking over the top of the windshield and not through it (although I could be wrong about this).  Thanks in Advance.

I've always thought Bosozoku automotive style was pretty cool. Cars, motorcycles, and vans.

That's a tough choice imo. They're both really cool. On my bikes, I'd probably go w the clear one especially if the bike is otherwise stock, but your bikes are gold so that yellow would look really good too.

Around here, (STL, MO) no one makes the Boso connection. Even at vintage bike nights people comment on it being a Japanese commuter thing. My bike also doesn't have that Boso look though. I even sometimes run a warbird version of the same sissy bar in Yamiya Yuichi has in the pics I posted, but mine is just too new and clean looking to give off the same vibe.

Thanks Mate.  I just paid more for an air filter that you can't even see.   I could buy a super cool yellow tinted Bōsōzoku windshield for less than the price of an air filter  :o

Most of the Bōsōzoku gangs and subculture have disappeared from Japan but they are still active in Okinawa

Young spirited kids having fun or annoying and dangerous nuissance?

I have an older Made in Japan dark blue OKINAWA riding jacket with embroidered Sea Dragon.  I should get it out of my closet and take some photos

In this video I count 2 Asahi AF windshields
