Fork to triple tree connection

Wondering if I need to put any kind of barrier or grease in between the triple tree clamps and the fork tubes?

After learning the hard way I always clean those areas with a grease removing solvent before torquing to spec.
You really do want those parts to stay where you left them.

Do your triples need the D ring spacers at the clamp? Don't forget them if so, easy to break the clamp.
