Fork to triple tree connection

Wondering if I need to put any kind of barrier or grease in between the triple tree clamps and the fork tubes?

Not a good idea as you want a tight grip
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Ok - thanks Bryan. Was thinking about the corrosion between them when I took it apart but what you said makes more sense

After learning the hard way I always clean those areas with a grease removing solvent before torquing to spec.
You really do want those parts to stay where you left them.

Do your triples need the D ring spacers at the clamp? Don't forget them if so, easy to break the clamp.
