This afternoon I awoke the K5 from its winter nap.
I aired up the tires with fresh spring air, checked the oil level(I had changed the oil after the last ride on 12/2/25), then I drained out the @ 5 oz of 2 stroke oil from the gas tank(winter storage coating after draining and rinsing the tank with diesel fuel), then put in 3 gallons of fresh non ethanol gas and turned on the petcock to fill the emptied carbs, cranked the starter a few times until the oil light went off, put the kill switch on and choked it. It fired up right away nice and smooth.
Then rode it around the neighborhood for 15 minutes to warm it up slowly and warm the chain to put on chain lube.
This was after my delivery from Mike Reick of my Billet Block and 72mm pistons. An exciting day was had.
