If all the unobtanium (at a decent price) parts are there and intact I'd go for it.

Cut front guard $600,

I was really lucky. Tom, (El Cheapo) sent me one off a K1 he was wrecking, and initially I was cranky because I thought someone had "modified" it, and almost threw it out, so I was pretty stoked when I finally realised that it was the real deal after I bought the K0 from Andy Morris in Long Island. I think I paid Tom 25 bucks for it?

Hey Hahndy, if you don't want that nasty ol' bike, let me know, I'll have it! Ha ha, Cheers, Terry. ;D

That's awesome!  Pictures when you get the chance please.  I too have a K0; some parts are definitely a challenge to find.  If all is intact, you are definitely in a good spot.

Prost!

NICE find. K0 with a 900 isn't a bad deal IMO. If it's kitted up properly you'll have one tire smoking SOB. Sounds like it's in pretty good shape which makes putting it back/restoring to 736 that much easier should/when you decide to sell it. Why do it otherwise?! If you did go back to stock sandcast 736 you can always find someone hanging around here that would GLADLY take those nasty old pre-sleeved bored cylinders and big ass pistons off your hands for 2 or 3 dollars (hint, hint). Looking forward to seeing & hearing about your find. If you can't trust an old guy who can you trust? Old guys have already done all the bullsh*&^ting they needed to and are living on memories. You'd better adopt a new dad!!!

Well you have a bargain for sure. Wrinkle tank, cut guard, beautiful tacho and speedometer, ducktail seat in good condition. The tank emblems are worth about $300+ alone so well done. It also has the early ignition switch with the key that has the rubber plug on it. Those are around $150-250 when you can find them. It's all there for you, the bones are very good, as they say.

It's restorable but if it's not for you then good luck to whoever you pass it on to....

I agree with TC Hahndy, that bike is an excellent find, sheeit, 2K for an original 1969 K0? Fantastic! If you don't want it, i'll buy it! Cheers, Terry. ;D

The sandcasts and early K0's had the front and rear edges of the front mudguard sheared off.  Later numbers, starting around 1970 had the edge of the mudguard rolled all of the way around. Look closely at the pictures above. Cheers

Take  a look at the pic of the front end KC, you'll notice that the front fender doesn't have a "rolled edge" on either end, so it looks like it's been "cut". On the later K0's like my 1970 model, they "rolled" the leading "lip" probably for safety reasons, but the trailing lip was still "cut". On the later K1-K2 fenders,(which were pretty much the same until the K3 came along with different forks and fender) both lips were rolled. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Damn!!!!.......that is some sparkling paint!!! Looks to be a bit of a cleanup project but great price that would fetch alot more at sell time. Great find there Hahnda. I imagine with all of the other old (high priced) goodies,it also has the seperate throttle cables? I have never dealt with those but I know theres a few members here that have.Even though you didn't like it at first sight,I think you did good to grab it because anyone else in the know sure would have!!

The paint is very 70's. Quality work done on it too. It still looks pretty good. Would almost be a shame to paint it back to stock!  ;D

So why do it then?  Are you planning on a "concours" restoration?

I gotta agree with Ed, (I never thought I'd say that!) keep that boat paint on the K0 Hahndy, there are too many "Concours" K0's out there now, with owners too frightened to ride them for fear of affecting their resale value.

Enjoy your K0 mate, as I've found since I bought my K0, owning a piece of motorcycling history is a really nice experience, but don't be afraid to ride it! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Kevin, you are sure getting quite a collection there! ;) That IS a cool find there, with that K0. 8)
I'm a little late getting in on this but wanted to congratulate you on getting the K0. Seems like you
