Sam, that's not global warming, that's the effect of Bill O'Reilly's bloated ego on the orbit of the moon.  It's affecting the tides, which therefore changes weather patterns and causes things to catch on FIRE.

Global Warming is a hoax!  The bumper sticker said so on the back of that lady's SUV.  ::)

How does global warming cause snow? I thought snow had to be cold!   There MAY be warming but you try to convince me of that in the dead of winter and you will find a snowbank on your head very quickly!

I'm no expert..., but I believe it is the ocean currents/tempertures that control weather patterns.  If/when these change, weather patterns change.

The World is a large eco-system.  Small changes can lead to other more drastic changes.  Kill the corral reefs, the oceans begin to die.  Kill the honeybees, what is going to pollenate the crops?

Is the snow in Argentina just a random occurance?  Could be, but whether it is or not, we need to take care of this planet.  It's the only one we have... for now.   ;)

...however, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.   ;D

Remember all that bogus talk of an ice age a few years ago?  Glaciers covering much of the earth and all that ridiculous inuendo.  Can you imagine the low tempareatures there would have been?  Humbug!  Well, I never saw it.  That would have meant we've had phenomenal global warming without any ozone hole for centuries, even millenia.  Who could believe that?   Where were all the humans heating up the earth with their dastardly earth killing deeds, then?  If you ask me, the earth has always had the same weather patterns of the last 50-100 years.  And any changes MUST be the result of all powerfull mankind manipulation...or marketing ploys.

Long term earth climate trend changes are simply a myth, couldn't possibly be natural, and we would certainly notice it in our comparatively mininscule lifetimes, right?

Some people want to change the world.  Others just want to make it miserable for others.

You want to see a change in the world's temp?  Watch a volcano or two errupt!  If you want to preach global warming caused by mankind manipulation, I urge you to get a front rim seat!

Have a warm day!

I believe it is all a cycle too. There is just no hard proof that it is humans causing the warming. The warming might be happening but I dont think it is humans doing it other than maybe a small percent.  Recent finding show that greenland WAS at one time GREEN! Long before humans came around.

Did you know that they've found "drop stones" in the tropics?  Drop stones are those that are carried over long distances by glaciers and deposited.  And then they found layers of calcium carbonate covering them.  Calcium carbonate is what is formed when acid rain comes in contact with rocks and disolves them.  Acid rain is formed when you have large amounts of CO which mixes with moisture in the air to form acid.  And all of this from WAAAAAAAAAY before man made a showing.  It's a natural cycle.

"A typical cow burps about 280 liters of methane each day":

http://archives.cnn.com/2000/NATURE/07/21/cow.methane.enn/index.html

That's just the burping.  Don't forget the emissions from the other end of the cow!

How do you suppose that compares with the average car in terms of greenhouse gas production?  Not well, friends.  Maybe they should install CATs on those cows?

The little dog laughed to see such sport!

Even if cows are the ones causing global warming, it's still a human problem.  Remember, humans are the ones who are now mass-producing cows.  If there were no humans, there would be countless predators who would eat cows for lunch (literally).  But people need their meat, so cattle will be protected and there will never be a "natural" balance.

If anything, people should STOP eating cows.  Not only would it make US healthier, it would apparently improve the greenhouse gas emissions when we stop bovine breeding.

People do have an effect on the planet, regardless of how many times you re-state the obvious.

People have an effect on the planet, period.  So do birds, cows, fish, microscopic organisms, etc.  The real debate should be about what cockroaches we humans really are.  We are basically using up everything around us in the hopes that we can move on one day to another place, or just manufacture substitutes.
Will we kill the Earth?  Now that's just absurd!  Unless we buried all of the nuclear weapons in existence in one spot and hit the button, we can only have an impact on how livable the planet is for organisms with certain needs such as specific amounts of oxygen, sunlight, etc.  Of course, as these organisms die due to the change in environment, others will begin to adapt and prosper.  Natural cycle.

This doesn't mean that I don't recycle, reduce as much waste as I can, and try to drive low emission, high MPG autos in an attempt to minimize my personal impact and to enjoy the state of nature as much as I can.  I just think the idea that the human race is destined to be around for any appreciable timeline compared to the Earth's existence is folly.

Long after we are gone, a mere fossilized record of a species that once ruled the planet, Earth will have incorporated everything we have produced into another version of itself, complete with plastic rocks, Styrofoam trees, and radioactive grass, but why worry?  We won't be here anyway, but I bet the cockroaches will have high-fi by then. ;D

Blabla.. ;)

Meanwhile we've had to deal with TORRENTIAL RAIN AND SEVERE WINDS for two months, and it's suposed to be summer here.
I was sceptical too last year, but wading through water most of the summer makes you a believer pretty fast.
Can someone recommend a place to move to where this global warming thing actually improves the weather?

Here! Here!  Illinois winters have been worse since the global warning trend has caught on.  For several years we had mild winters.  Past two or three have been pissers.  Don't understand the weather one bit.

Bah! the "natural" balance is called "supply and demand" at this point.  We need more cows, we raise more cows, we eat more cows... if the vegetarians take over we need less cows, we raise less cows, we eat less cows...

Besides... if we all eat more veggies, I'll be replacing the cow flatulence with my own version... talk about greenhouse gas emissions!   ::)

I think Man has had an effect.  The planet used to be covered with forest, now, even the rainforests are disappearing at an alarming rate.  Major industries belching pollutants long term.  Raising animals for food.  Over-fishing the oceans.  Pouring chemicals into the ground to keep plants artificially bigger and greener.

I really believe that the crap they feed and inject in cows has had a huge affect on cancer rates, too.  All those steroids and such are like power bars for cancer cells.   Now they find that garden hoses are full of lead to stabilize the PVC and you could be hurting your kids by letting them drink out of the hose.

And yeah- the ice caps are melting.

I just hope I'm dead before the doody really hits the fan hard.  I figure I've got about 15 years left on me.  Maybe 20.

If I was king of the world, the first thing I'd do is make EVERYBODY get into zero population growth.  That would probably mean dealing unkindly with many religious groups.  So be it.  I believe in God- not religion.
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Or as my Grandfather put it one day at a family dinner:

"I've got the solution to the Global Warming situation.  You take 9 out of every 10 people, give them a tree and a gun, have them plant the tree then stand at the foot of the tree and then shoot themselves in the head with the gun.  Instant solution to 2 problems, not only do you solve global warming, you solve overpopulation and fertilize the new tree in the process."

If you couldn't tell, he was an engineer for 60 years.  ;D
