Yet another carb question 76 550 4
« on: August 25, 2007, 10:53:29 AM »
Hi everyone,

i was cleaning out my jets and took everything apart and now I can't remember a detial.

On my carbs there is the float valve and it's seat, the main jet (I think. It's the one that sits underneatth the needle controlled by the throttle) and the slow jet (again, I think. It's the one with threads in it that sits just to the side of the main jet)

the problem I'm having, is these carbs seem to be interchangeable.  On each side of the main jet there is a spot to thread the slow jets.  So the question is, which side do they go on?  I think I remember them being on the "outside" (relative to the bike) of each carb.  So, on carb 1 and 2 they go to the left side, and on carb 3 and 4 they go on the right side.

IS this correct?  Will it matter?  Any direction if you're not sure?

Thanks
David

One hole is threaded and the other is not. The slow jet screws into the threaded hole. Also, be sure to remove and clean the needle jet above the main jet. See the Carb FAQ and the linked page (salocal.. something) for more info.

Happy trails.
