New 76 750 Owner (Updated with new Pics 09.08.07)

Here are some new Pics I took after new tires, Re-Painting the front forks and Rims.  I also gave the bike a 6 hour detail. Enjoy!

Hello all.  There will be a lot of firsts in this post :-)

This is my first post on this great board.  Although I must admit I have been trolling it for a couple weeks while deciding on the kind of bike to buy.

My name is Chris.  I am pushing 30 and I live in Northern VA, and I just recently passed my Basic Motorcycle Safety Foundation course at NVCC in Alexandia,VA.  That same day I passed I went to the VA DMV where I got my motorcycle license (first time i ever had one).

That weekend, I purchased my first Motorcycle.  Its a 1976 Red Honda CB750K with about 15400 miles on it.  My father in law is a Motorcycle Nut and helped me pick it out.  He drives a Victory, but I try not to hold that against him ;-)

It appeared to be in good condition, ran well and had a new clutch put in less than 25 miles ago at the sellers local Honda Dealer.  It has a Fairing and Vetter Trunk and the Trunk has 4 lights that all work (tail/brake/dignal).  Floor boards came installed (although I will probably swap those out for pegs) and the seat was swapped out with a king/queen seat with backrest.  The owner also put highway pegs on it.  It was definitely set up for touring.

Before I start riding any further than around the block, I need to replace the rear tire (its pretty worn).  Also the exhaust is in good working condition, but it is not in the best shape aesthetically.  I plan on watching ebay as well as calling up the local Honda Dealer in Northern VA and pricing out having it replaced.

I am very exciting to own my first bike and I can already feel the Cruising Bug biting hard... I am very much looking forward to growing as a new rider and motorcycle enthusiast through this board.

Please enjoy the picks and let me know what you think.

Bump to let everyone know I finally have the bike's plates.  I plan to pick her up from Illinios and trailer her back to Northern VA this weekend.

Welcome and nice looking bike - looks ready to ride. Take care of those sidecovers and tank as they are expensive!! Whats wrong with exhaust pipes? Look good in the photos. A replacement set from Honda cost ~$800-$1000. I actually like the fairing you have there although I agree about the floorboards - get the pegs!

Anyway enjoy the ride and let us know how it goes.

cheers
Andy

:) Welcome Aboard from another K6 Owner in Orange County NY. (See the Avatar) Mine had about 12k on it when I bought it Last Year, it's got 25k now..  Your Bike looks Great. (I wouldn't worry about the Exhaust. Looks good in the picture).

Glad to see you took the Safety Course......

Good Luck with the Bike, and be safe,

The exhaust had some hidden rust spots, but some Wd-40, crumpled aluminum foil and elbow grease cleaned it up great ;-).  I gave the bike a real good detail today.  Took almost 4 hours.  (Its crazy how It only takes me 2 hours to detail my car, but 4 for a bike...lol).  I also had my tired replace with new front and rear Dunlop 404s.
I am still hunting for pegs to replace the floor boards.  (anyone have any ideas where to get some from?).
The next two things I currently have planned are to: one, get the fairing to my local paint shop and have then give it a matching paint job to tank and side covers; and two, to find some side bags or preferably (I know this might be tough, but i figure with some forum support it might be possible) to find some side boxes that match my vetter trunk.

Other wise I am doing great!

Enjoy you labor day weekend all!

Maybe you have a MC salvage yard in your area.

I've found used parts here: http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/
Used parts not in their catalog, give them a call. My experience > good service here, but maybe not true for everybody.
