Man Oh Man..
So, the last few times I had taken the bike out, I was really disappointed in the experience. Riding the bike is GREAT! Sharing the road full of fools talking on their cellphones, using a laptop computer while driving, or just plain being inconsiderate and/or tailgating (even though I was going 15 over in the right lane!) just got freakin old. I'm a father of a young child too, so I decided, it was time to give up the bike.
I tried to sell it a few times, with no bites. I even got frustrated that it didn't sell- was it priced too high? But I have more money and TLC in the bike then what I am asking!! Am I gonna have to drop the price and take a total loss? I worry that if I keep the bike, I'll keep riding it, and eventually some teeny bopper "texting" while driving will run me over!!
Then, the un-thinkable happens.. All of the sudden there are LOTS of people calling, emailing, etc. They are interested in the bike finally. I agree to sell the motorcycle to a nice young lady rider, and she's excited to buy the bike. As near as I can tell, she's a true biker, says she rides every day, and I believe it too. She pays full asking price for the bike- didn't even try to talk me down.
As I wheel the bike out of my garage, I put it on it's sidestand one last time. I turn to take one last look as I walk away, and see it in all it's glory- I catch a little reflection of moonlight on the shiny gastank and chrome. I know it's only a machine, but one that never ever let me down. Happy trails good friend! I've previously sold 6 other motorcycles, but I don't think I felt the sting as much as I do with this one..
