Have this on my Dunstall fairing. Any ideas as to what it says?
« on: October 23, 2007, 05:23:57 AM »
Scored big on a Dunstall CB 750 tank cover seat and tail section originally from England, Britian, UK you get the idea...
But this came printed on the side in tape. Any clues?

Thanks in advance... ;D

Reminds me of this macho guy who got some Japanese letting tattooed on his arm because he liked the look.  Later he found an old guy and asked him what it said.  The old Japanese said, "It means you like it from behind."

Never figured out if he was kidding or not...

I recall a time in Pompeii Italy and one of the younger people in the group(14) had a jacket with the rising sun and some writing on the back. We turned around to see some fellow tourists from Japan asking us if he was a father. He had a jacket that said FATHER! I would have loved to be in the board room when the boss said, just put whatever on the back, they wont know the difference.

ANDY you were missed!!!
AS were all you SOHC folk! Next year man! YOu can camp on site and if we have the same weather next year... Perfect.

The meet was great and between the ten or so of us there I am sure we have about 2000 photographs. I will get those sorted soon.

We had a row of 9 Hondas (Alpine, 90's CB? it has a v motor, a 160, A 75 750, A 400, A Yoshimira 460, My 72 750/900, A 350 twin, and the Seely/RC 1000) that we lined up and none of them were for sale. We could have sold every last one and then some. We met two other Seely owners, John was there, he introduced me to Irishguy. It was a three day tailgate with the grill a goin' and the most beautiful weather, great people and some awsome deals. I will regail more in another post.

I got a set of three disc alloy wheels for 4$ and a taillight for the dunstall bodywork for 5$. Irishguy found a rectifier for his 650 for 5$. Deals everywhere.

All the bikes you ever wanted and a few you never even seen before.

Before we left I made a deal on the Dunstall bodywork previously mentioned. I am uh, VERY happy! It is mounted and the newer pics should come into another post later.

Here are the before pics.
Also a close up of the Dunstall logo

Looking forward to seeing some more photos from the meet and more updates!

BTW I can ask my Japanese teacher next Monday what your writing means.....looks like Katakana to me but I cant be sure....

I hope all is well!

Bud got it from England and I know Tim had something to do with all that. I love the plate, just two extra holes in my tag and some felt inbetween to protect the plate. It looks like a rocket ship! I will post more later. ;D

The Fest is on for next year around the same weekend.

Andy your spot at the table is reserved!

looks like the katakana for HO N and DA.  not exactly though- the HO is especially not quite the katakana, but similar enough given the N and DA.

I was pokin around that same kit at the swap meet, Lee.  It certainly was beautiful (though out of my spending budget  ;D)

I think I talked to you for about 20 minutes about your bike on Friday, too.  I was the guy talking about the CB650 and was with a guy with a scruffy red beard...  I forgot to ask if you were a member of the forums, I guess you were after all   :P

Hey GoatBass..

My "Nihonjin" Japanese wife just laughed when she saw your "Ho-n-da" logo.   Said it looks like some "Gaijin" foreigner wrote it.  But as Klark Kent said: it is a crude attempt by perhaps Dunstal people (?) to appear "ethnically correct".   Probably better that you covered up..at least to native Japanese.  But you gotta give them credit for the effort!

Thanks for sharing.

Dunstall made the parts and let it go at that. As for the H O N D A it was cut out of some sort if duct like tape and seems very home made. I had to take her out to the local college for a meeting ( misting rain, but we need it ). I was talking with a student when another one came out and saw it. He pointed out that the HO was wrong but it got the point across, just like KK said. I hope not to offend, I am just going to leave it on. Mystery history.

Splain' Nihhonjin and Gaijin please. I have to say that I have learned so much about the Japanese katakana in the last few days...
And that my friends is great fun.

Nihhonjin  -Nihon = "Japan", the "jin" part makes it "Japanese"

and Gaijin  = foreigner (in previous times referred to as "white ghost" -which would apply to me  ;))

I was lucky enough to get a job in Osaka for a month last year.  I had a great time trying to communicate and learning about the culture in my spare tiime.  I noticed that in advertising and in pop culture fashion they would often use english words haphazardly and often to hilarious ends.  I bought a couple t-shirts to give to friends that i found particularly funny in their abuse of the english language.

Upon returning- in the airport actually, i noticed two japanese teenagers taking a picture of the sign over the airport sushi stand- and laughing hysterically.  I am sure it said something like "eat raw flesh" in japanese.

and thats when i realized it goes both ways.
