those are strut bars not shocks. Looks like they have threaded clevis ends so you can adjust ride height.

K frame - F swingarm and rear...too much chrome but otherwise a nice bike.

A local guy in my hometown has a all nickel bike, it looks awesome, much better than all chrome.

I love the base color with that white pearl but the gold and chrome has to go, along with the Mag wheels.  It would look a whole lot more "Old School"  with some spokes.  I'm not a fan of that seat either but it is working with that bike...........................Chris

I disagree. I actually like the contrast. it adds another layer rather then just being all chrome.

It does look like it has actually been ridden, though. Look at the slight discoloration at the headers. Probably doesn't have a lot of miles, but I would say it has tasted asphalt.

Had the seat covered most of the seat hoop, would have looked so much better..looks real unfinished the way it is..

Looks bent too like the bike endo-ed ans came down hard on the back.. maybe just optical..

Nickle frame.. guy I rode with to LA was polishing his a lot down there has a tendency to tarnish a bit.. main thing is it is safer  because of hydrogen embrittlement that occurs in the chroming process.. thats why Rickman, Champion all them are nickel..

Looks a lot like a sportster. If he wanted a sportster maybe he should have just bought one instead. Throw a decent set of shocks on there and the bike would be one fun ride.

one thing that really really pisses me off...he must have at least $1500 in chrome work there, but he can't spend the money to get a proper set of K&N pod filters instead of the cheap emgo crap. Every time someone uses one of those cheap emgo filters on a cb an angel gets it's wings...taken away...and then explodes.

you mean other than they are cheaply made garbage?

Lets start with the obvious, the metal mesh filter is good for bugs and stones and such but really doen't filter particulate matter out, like dust, or pollen. Honestly they work about as good as a fine mesh screen on a set of v-stacks.

ever look inside an stock honda airbox? the rubbers that mount to the carb are actually mini velocity stacks. Without getting into the science of velocity stacks, they are that way to help the bike run smoother at idle and throughout the rev range. Real K&Ns have a similar internal "velocity stack". The emgo is just a flate piece with a hole cut in it. Every wonder why pods have a rep of being hard to tune "just right", this is where it comes from.

on top of that the chrome is cheap and rusts easily.

For looks alone with complete disreguard for how your bike runs, they are cheap and kinda good looking which makes them popular. In this case you barely get what you pay for.

Well, at least there's no question of your opinion on the matter 

I've used them on other bikes in the past with no issue, and they've held up just fine - I bought a set for my CB750 too.  Yes, they're 'cheap' but they look good, never caused me any running issues (after tuning the carbs for them, of course) and they sound good.  I'm sure all the same is accomplished with the K&N's too, if thats the way you want to go, but the oiled K&N filtering elements dont do such a great job at filtering out dust or letting air through - at least in my experience.   Diff'rent strokes I guess - the chrome showcase (in the first post) isnt my thing, but I appreciate the work that goes into it.

And speaking of airfilters, I last ran stock carbs about 2 1/2 decades ago.. and I had straight side K&N's.. you know in all the time I have been on here and looking around in general.. I never see these anymore!!.. must be a real old institoot of learning, extension of the leg joints to the glueteeus maximus type of nostalgia vintage part.. huh???

yeah I don't think the K&Ns are all that great either, but they are better than the emgos. Some people you just can't talk out of pods and if it comes down to it, K&Ns are worth the price difference. Sure you can "tune" your carbs to work marginally well with the emgo pods, but at what cost?

Personally, I run the stock airbox where I can and Velocity stacks with screens and foam filters everywhere else. The best setup I have found is actually a stock airbox with one of those K&N replacement filters.  

I have used emgos in the past and every one of them rusted out after a year. I also spent more time dicking with the carbs than I should have, trying to get smooth idle and power delivery. It is pretty much all the same cost in the end what you don;t pay for in the filter you end up giving up in labor or hp.

I'm not a "just for looks" kinda guy so things like the emgo filter really have only one place for me...the garbage can.

There was a fellow hanging around the pit area we were in wearing a K&N shirt everyday, I finally asked if he worked for them. He said yes and provided a bit of history on the company..
 I said to him, 'You dont have to work on selling your product here, looks like about 90% or more are running K & N"

Given a choice I would run theirs over anything else..

If you are talking about those old square british style metal "airboxes" I have a stockpile of them. They used to come up on ebay all the time for under $20 and I would buy every one I could get my hands on. Then somebody figured out they are worth something and the prices jumped north of $50 so I stopped buying. I still use them from time to time, but I use uni-filter green foam in them insead fo the worn out old paper filters.

 I agree Geeto. Every 1500 miles or so I service the  stock air filter system. This is on a bike that is driven mostly on pavement with not more than 50 miles on gravel in that period. The amount of dust blown from the filter and the larger particles of sand and small pebbles up to 2mm dia. left on the bottom of the airbox has convinced me that any filtration system that isn't doing this is not a wise choice if engine longevity is a concern.

I agree. My CB engine has over 100,000 but it been apart a few times. I have run K&N's for years on my FJ and CB. Emgo's aren't close to K&N in design.The old stock air boxes(especially the inlets) are so small it cannot get enough air for a modified engine. I run an OEM style BMC filter on my busa (similiar to a K&N). Actual HP gain is about 1 hp ( not pressurized). The busa air box is very large with probably 4 times the volume of a CB unit. And it's just not about displacement as 600cc bikes have very large air boxes too (almost as large as 1000cc bikes). People talk of loss of torque with K&N's but I haven't experienced it. I'd say poor to mediocre carb tuning is to blame. The big caveat with individual K&N's is riding in the rain ( though I've run hundreds of miles in the rain on my FJ as the side panels protected the filters). You will also get more very small particles in the engine too. I know there as some folks that hate individual K&N's and find many ways to rationalize unwarranted criticism. K&N's are much less restrictive than a stock/box filter combo. If you want some more performance, are willing to trade off the rain thing AND can tune carbs I say do it

I can def live with the rain thing..as for the tuning carbs..im learning but the rain thing is a non issue since the bikes i have that will be getting pods will be seeing very little rain anyways....Chances are im probably gonna be running K&N replacement filters in the stock air boxes of certian machines and pods on the others. Either way im trying to maximise the performance of my rides. If i have to do any tuning to get it..so be it..
