I've worn the same old black "Marlon Brando" jacket for so long, it's gone a shade gray-er than my hair.

I've got to either lose some weight (preferred option) or buy a bigger jacket, that one looks nice, and the price is right, so I might have to invest in one.......... Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Probably "Wellies", Dirty Dan, Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played Toecutter in the film Mad Max was English. ;D

No, I didn't forget.  :P  I was actually referring to the film genre rather than the lead actor.  But, I'm pretty sure none of the actors provided their own wardrobe for the film.  So, such assignment of guilt is misplaced, IMHO.  :D  And, it turns out that an OZ boot company made all the boots for the film. However, it also turns out I was wrong about Max's boots, which you can see here:  http://www.yourprops.com/view_item.php?movie_prop=9530
In fact, DD had a better reference for Toecutter's boots.  http://www.madmaxcostumes.com/C1/toecutter5.htm  ...Which is probably where I drew the visual link.
Looks like Goose had the multi strap thing goin' on, too. http://www.madmaxcostumes.com/boots.htm  (another visual link connection)

A useless bit of trivia, is that all the jackets, with the exception of Goose, were made of vinyl instead of leather, due to the film's AU$400,000 budget. http://www.madmaxcostumes.com/costume1.htm
Anyway the costume designer for Mad Max was Clare Griffin.  Couldn't find out much about her, except that she worked on a bunch Australian movie/TV productions;  http://posters.imdb.com/name/nm0341147/filmogenre

It must be true, since I found all this stuff browsing on the internet! ;D ;D

Cheers!  ;D ;D

Fair enough Lloyd, and it was good to see, looking at the links that no-one in the movie was wearing those faggy boots either! (although one actor at least wore chaps with no pants................)

I must pull out my old Rossi "Scramble" (pre-motocross) boots with all the straps like Goose', I bought them in 1975, but by then my feet had reached their growth potential, and so they still fit! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Mel was born in lived in Peekskill NY about 40 miles from Manhattan till he was 12 or so. His old man was a real nutjob who figured there was going to be either a race war, or a jewish uprising of some sort. So he packed up for OZ. When asked on his first film in which he played an American how he had such a natural accent, he said some BS about practicing. She did some digging since off camera he had a NY accent. He had an American passport.

What are you saying?  That you'd rather believe the DVD info than the (gasp) internet?  :o  :o  :o

Does make sense though.   ;D ;D ;D

I was mainly surprised that there were vinyl jackets at all.

But, wait, wasn't it Goose that actually rode the cycle?  ... And he fell off, too!  Who needed the better protection?  Goose, or the cage driver Max?

Oh well, it's not like the movie was a historical documentary.  Perhaps a hysterical Documentary? ;D ;D

Cheers,

That's a bit sad mate, my folks went to the US on vacation for the first time about 20 years ago, and asked me what I'd like brought back, so I said I'd like a Levi's denim jacket.

They brought me back a pair of 501's (Mexico) a jacket (Peru) and a shirt. (China) Oh well, at least the jacket was made in (south) America! :P
