hey guys... quick question... I am finishing up the wiring on my FI project... I am attempting to get my ignition input from the coil directly. According to the Mega Manual, the microsquirt should be wired as follows...

OPTOIN+ coil negative

OPTOIN- 12V

I am trying to figure out where my which of the wires on my bike are Coil Negative... I looked over the wiring schematic and it looks like the black and white wire is switched 12V through the kill switch and the blue and yellow wires on the coil are signal wires coming from the ignition...

I am running a DYNA S ignition with 3 ohm coils

Any help would be appreciated.

The blue and yellow are the coil neg. try the diagram at this link 7th post down by ew flyer. He had a lot of problem getting a signal off of a coil and this solved it.

Lucky, my website has been dead for a while. I'll post some pics of any details you would like. Also for anybody that is interested, there is a modified msextra  firmware out now that has active idle stabilization by advancing or retarding the ignition to maintain a set idle speed . Between this and other improvements i dont think I'll attempt sequential inj now. The firmware is here :

750... Is he proposing that that circuit be taped into the coils pre existing lines? or is he saying that the diodes and resistors need to be put into the stock wiring for the bike and the MS taped in after said diodes and resistors?

I am also reading that this is only a viable option for IDI and TCI ignitions. what is the CB750 with Dyna S and 3.0 ohm coils? i thought it was CDI?

I would put a "y" bullet connector at the coils at point A and B in diagram. Use one branch to go to dyna,  other to go to diodes etc then MS. The diodes clip the noise spikes and the resistor is a pull up so the input to the opto goes from 12 v to ground if my 20 year old electronics knowledge isnt failing me....

thanks for the response. have any ideas if the DYNA is a IDI, CDI or TCI? looks like this circuit is only good for IDI, and TCI.

also note that this setup will give u 2 pulses per revolution. just hook up one coil to the ms if u want just one. i dont rember what the code wants to get proper rpm reading. it will read double if 2 pulses per rev is not right

will make sure i check into that. I think one of the points he was trying to make was that 2 pulses were better than one? along with the noise reduction.

No offense intended but i always get a laugh out of an American correcting spelling on a world stage, considering they completely butchered the English language to suit themselves.... ;D ;D :o

Why would you be worried about Lucky coming off the wrong way?  This is the internet, so we can't really infer any tone from words that aren't spoken, or body language we can't see.   So maybe when read on a monitor it seems off,  but in person maybe he's not(?).    And Retro, I'll spell colour any way I want ya arsehole  ;D   The Road Warrior sucks!!
