I personally know him. He played football in college in the mid 80's. He's done lots of risky undercover stuff.

Hey-soos Sam, if your wife sees that, you will be a dead man.

I feel sorry for the guy. He F*cked up, but now he's lost his job. Man. One error and it's good-night-nurse.

So there you all go. From the member who messed up an engine rebuild for his boss a few months back, and on and on it goes.

Don't be so effing sanctimonious you lot, you might be next!

The point is, with guns, there is not room for even one error. This guy is an unbelievable idiot, anyone who would ever have an AD during a public demonstration not only needs to lose his job, but his right to be around firearms.  There is no excuse for this, especially by a member of law enforcement.  Pathetic only scratches the surface of this gross stupidity.

Ahh, if only you knew the number of professionals that screw up with guns, explosives, calculations, etc.  Look at how many "professional" drivers we have on the road and the number of accidents that we have.  Every one screws up no matter how many hours or times they have done it before correctly.  The important thing is to learn from it and move forward if you still can.  As my dad used to say "everyone gets in a wreck when they are learning to drive, you just hope that you are able to walk away from it and learn something important from it".  I bet he'll never drop the slide on a clip and then put his finger near the trigger again and a lot of kids just found out that you don't play with guns.  Other than the missing pinky toe it was a successful day at school. :)

Oldfordguy, nice to see that you have seen the light. Good luck with your health. What game are you in?  (trade and/or profession)?, so that I can paint you a picture as to how it might pan out for you tomorrow. Maybe.

And the guy with the gun gets absolutely no credit for infiltrating gangs and putting his life on the line, year or year, or month after month, for putting scumbags and sh*t-heads away for the time they deserve.

Have you ever effed up at some stage in your life?...If you haven't, you must be holier than me!

In the 31 years I've spent in the Army, I've never had an "unauthorised discharge" and I've only witnessed maybe a half dozen. The guy fuucked up because his personal standard of training was poor, and the standard of training that he was passing on to his audience was not just poor, it was downright dangerous.

To actually discharge a firearm in a classroom is a shocking indictment of the standards of "law enforcement" professionals, and the guy should have been charged with a criminal offence. I've never given a weapons lesson in a classroom environment with live ammunition (even during the time I spent in "Special Forces") and I can't believe how slack that dickhead was.

This isn't about making an honest mistake at work, this is about endangering the lives of a classroom full of innocent students. Did you see their reaction when he asked his assistant to pass him the rifle? They were terrified!

I wasn't surprised how many shooting incidents were linked to that clip on youtube, but I was surprised a little by this one. It seems that this village can claim more than just one idiot...........  :P

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

No it doesn't, it brings gun education requirements (for students and instructors) into question.  At least 30% more people in the USA under the age of 18 die on motorcycles in a year than from accidental gun deaths; there is a 400% increase when we go from ages 15-25.  Banning motorcycles would save many more lives each year than banning guns.  My wife and I made it a point to educate our kids about guns, as a result, they don't even play with toy guns and instruct other kids on toy gun safety.  If they want to go shoot a gun we take them out to a range and let them shoot until they are tired off it, then guns are not some hidden mysterious thing.  Not to mention, if banning things actually worked, the USA wouldn't have a drug problem.  Passing laws just makes law makers feel better about themselves and hopefully gets the special interest group off of their lawns.  /rant off

The "unloaded weapon" suddenly going off must be infectious - this week Ive seen 3 different reports in the paper of teens (age range 14 -17 years old) having shot their friend dead when the gun they were showing off to their friends went off accidentally - its happened twice here in Boston in the last week (in both cases it was an illegal firearm)!

I don't think the audience was any smarter than the fuuck up. If I was in a classroom where an AD occured I would be a few blocks away before my ears even started ringing.  Who was the mental midget with the child? And the woman who was going to give him a rifle? I have guns, I respect them, I know how to click the safety on. This guy just pisses me off.    Jbird >:(

That is just Fu@kin wrong.  He should have been fired and charged.  No excuse.  He's trying to show off and brag about how good he is the entire time, even after he seriously fu@ked up.  I'd have stood up and told the idiot bringing him the rifle to stop before he got close enough to touch it.

It's not a mistake to release the action, with a loaded mag in place, and pull the trigger.  Very basics of semi-autos is leave the action open until you're ready to fire or the mag is removed.  I can't believe they had a loaded mag in the gun to begin with!
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.  Aristotle
