Emgo mufflers
« on: February 11, 2008, 06:01:52 PM »
Was just wondering if anyone has ever tried mufflers made by Emgo. I'm thinking of buying a set,but I don't want anything too loud. Here's a link

thanks

You usually get what you pay for, and what your paying for there is new chromed mufflers and not much more. Probably not to quiet. But I could be wrong on those.

I got some emgo mufflers a few years back and they are the slash cut megaphone style. It is a megaphone style except the back is cut at an angle. With all 4 pipes, it looks really good. They sound good to me, granted that is coming after having an exhaust full of holes. Not loud but not too quiet. Yes you do pay for what you get but I have had them now about 3 or 4 years and they still look pretty good. They just might require a bit more frequent polishing.

eldar, Thanks for the reply. That's what I was hoping to hear. The bike I'm putting them on will only be ridden occasionally and garage kept. I didn't want to spend 500 bucks for new pipes.

Well I can get pics sometime. Right now my bike is stacked between boxes since I just recently moved into a house.

One thing though is that almost all new pipes have a larger diameter than ours do. You will need to make your own adaptors most likely. I used regular exhaust pipe for cars and polished them up and it looks pretty decent.

Im pretty sure these were Emgo or very similar - bought from JC Whitney back in 2000 - set of mufflers for $115 I think. Since replaced but they did the job and chrome held up ok except for turning blue quite rapidly but that may have been the bike running lean.....

cheers

Emgo has a pretty good rep I think as they've made inexpensive replacement mufflers for BMWs for years. I think all they make is slip ons, I don't believe they do full systems, but I've been wrong before! Andy, who's that sitting on your sickle?

It may be a long shot but has anyone got the "Reverse Cone Muffler" from EMGO? How did you like them?

4 of them would look the part' but at 50 bucks a pop a set of old rusted out stock pre 77 750K pipes could also be shortened to around the same length and recapped. Maybe I am just cheap.
