Newbie From Rhode Island
« on: March 08, 2008, 09:30:41 AM »
Hey guys, i recently bought a 75' cb550 i always liked the older cb's and came across this one relatively cheap so i drove over an hour and picked it up. it had sat for i'd say a good ten years or more. i cleaned the carbs, filter. threw some nuts and a chain in the gas tank and shook it up. took them out. put gas in and some new plugs and voila a nice running bike for hella-cheap. here's what it currently looks like

Hello and nice job on the 550.  It seems to me that all of the old CBs take quite a lot to actually put out of action.  Short of rusting away to nothing, or catastrophic damage of some sort, most can be resurrected with a little willpower and a lot of time lol.

What are your future plans for the bike?

my plans are to get the wheels cleaned up, paint the tank a light blue color and side covers, cover the seat and make a cafe style cover to go over the back of the seat out of a cut up gas tank.  i also have to get the front brakes working and signals and paint the exhaust.
