Good to see another Kiwi on here, I just sold a CB650Z clutch cable to a guy in Lower Hutt who I directed to this site, not sure if he signed on but there's about 10 NZers on here now....go the blacks. ;D

I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Hey guys, another 750F1 owner in Wellington here.
I've been slowly tinkering it into shape for the last 3 years since I bought it off eBay from a guy in Melbourne. I was in Sydney at the time.

Came home last year but haven't registered it yet. It's been real slow, but sometimes just sitting in the garage with it is a welcome break from everything else.

Here's a recent shot. If you've been looking at Trademe recently you may recognise the yellow F1 in the background. I bought it for parts but can't bring myself to tear it down. It runs and has such history baked into every speck of dirt and grime.

Drop me a line if you're riding through.

Hey all,

Im new to all these forums and I have been searching for these types of sites for a while.  I am from Hawkes Bay but now live in Waikato.  I currently have a 72 CB500F still going strong.  My current project is a CB350F.  It will be a large project and also very slow so will be cool to chat with you all about mods etc.   Just sorting frame out and measuring taper rollers for triple clamp.  Need to find some more rims as my current ones are very rusty.  Re-furbished front forks and look real smart.  Anyone respoked a wheel before?  Im about to learn.  Could be a danger but i should be all good.  Hope to post photos soon.  Boggie

Yep - I did my front wheel up a few months back. New spokes, rim rechromed. Lacing the spokes was frustrating but my end result was very satisfying. However..I only saved $70-$100 or so - an expert would charge about that for a rim in good condition...to fit new supplied spokes. It is not mechanically challenging at all - more a case of working to a method, having losts of photos of "before I F'd it up" and being prepared to do it several times - the first time you do it. Then comes truing the wheel...same process..gotta be mentally tough...do it in small repeated stages till it gets betterererer.
As mentioned - has been covered here before - so use the search tool. Check in Tips and tricks u/h wheels.

Hello all. I'll be moving to Blenheim in a few weeks. I'm from the US, but have been living in Australia for the past year. Finally, my wife and I are finding our way back to New Zealand! I probably won't be able to get a bike straight away when we get there, but as soon as I do I'd love to go ride with anyone willing. If anyone finds any great deals I'd love to hear about them. I'll be keeping my eye on trademe until then. Cheers!

Welcome to NZ cousie, plenty of bikes down Bleheim way, they are a special kind of people in that area of NZ, love strange cars and bikes, got a few mates live there and they modify anything with wheels, you'll love it.

Hey Puffin, I have a cb500 that I've torn down to the frame, but got caught up spearfishing too much over the summer to work on it. Do you have a good source for parts? I'm going to the U.S. soon, so I may just pick up a few small things while I'm there. I know I need a kick start lever, coils with plug wires and one float bowl.

Hi Radam, I've bought almost all my parts from CMSNL, 4into1, Z1enterprises (coils and wires), cruzinimage (ebay vendor for rings and pistons) plus a couple of other ebay vendors.  In NZ there is Econohonda in the north island and Japanese Bike Dismantlers's in the south for used parts but it's usually cheaper to ship new stuff from the US.

Hi I'm in Canterbury and have a CB360P a CB550P and several XJ750P Yamaha's. Always keen on information/parts swaps etc. I highly recommend keeping bikes original if you want to use them as your superannuation fund. Way better than money in a scheme.
Also recommend powder coating and have had a lot of stuff done including my 360P frame at Elite. Great job just make sure you prepare the frame/parts properly so there are no imperfections.

JT here from New Plymouth. Restored a 1974 CB750 last summer but I've only managed about 500 km's since.
Found the forum very useful for some tricky issues, particularly engine wise.
Currently restoring a Yamaha TX750 (yes, I know all about their terrible reputation but I like its rarity).
Might try and exchange it for a CB500 when finished to add to my Honda collection.

Hi from Christchurch. Just completed my first build. Cb500. First shakedown ride 2 weeks ago after complete ground up rebuild. Benjie replica. Turned out pretty good. Forum has been great source of information. Enjoyed it so much already started no 2.
