Insurance company is trying to low ball my friends 1982 CB650, anyone seen any good listings?

I'm in Los Angeles, they normal go from $1000-2000. Higher the better!  But none are listed right now, non that are as nice as his CB650. He has a lot of after market chrome. I think any place in the USA, that has a working phone number on it will work. We're aiming for 1900-2000.  It has to be a 1982 ad.......

Some lady hit him on the right side, his stator got smashed and 1'inch chuck from the case housing of the stator broke off. He has the piece, so some JB weld and a new used stator later. We'll hopefully have a running bike again!

The insurance company is going to total it, but he wants to buy it back. Everything else seems fine, not a scratch anywhere else. Forks and swing arm seem fine, he understands the risk of the crank area may develop problems later. But I've seen plenty engines with smashed stators come back to life.

Any high price leads with working phone numbers will be appreciated! Anything over $2000 will be nice, I'll check "Craig's List" next, cuz it's free to place a Ad there. it has to be a 1982 model.

Kind of off topic, but not really.  What kind of paperwork do you have to do to legally repair and drive a motorcycle that the insurance company considers totalled?

Destroyer,

The insurance company gives you the option to buy it back, but it'll get a salvage title.

If he gives/sells it to insurance company, it'll most likely go to a salvage yard. Salvage yards never sell anything back, except maybe parts. Then it gets destroyed!

Several times I've tried to buy buy bikes from salvage yard and always get the same answer! No, or sometimes they cut out the VIN plate and grind out VIN numbers, thus making it un-registrable. Something about liability issues..etc
