to wake up an old thread here, has anyone besides bwaller made this conversion? i ask specifically because the front is what i'm concerned about, and brent's wasn't from sprocket specialists.
my SS front has no retaining holes, and came only with a clip that replaces the stock retaining plate. there is no spacer for either side, which would allow the sprocket to float on the shaft. i talked to the guy that makes all of their sprockets (randy at advanced precisions) and he says he's seen thousands if not a million of them go out like that, and has never heard of one hitting a case. he says the chain itself will keep in in alignment. i can't help but feel a little nervous about this.
has anyone run one like this? should i machine spacers to locate it and secure it properly?
