"Crashing Vashon"
« on: July 10, 2008, 06:05:37 PM »
In case you're interested:

I just received my Aug copy of "Motor Cyclist" and turned to page 86 and low and behold an article about 7 page article about the Isle of Vashon TT ride.

Pretty good reading. I can't wait for this years ride. It should be fun.

BR,
Chris

Did the article happen to mention what the day is for the Vashon Island run?

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone happened to know if the date for the 2009 Isle of Vashon has been announced yet.

from the Sound Rider website, they no longer publicise the date because of the huge turnout.  Only those who receive the VME newsletter get the date.... >:(

They stopped publishing the date a few years ago. But somehow / someway, the date usually leaks out. Like last year, I'm hoping someone will be willing to share the date with us nonmembers.  ;D

That would be a bummer.
I'm booked that weekend and was planning on Vashon being in September again.  :'(

Not to take this thread off topic, but incase you didn’t already know, this years Oyster Run is slated for 27-Sept-09. If nothing else, it's a nice ride up Whidby Island and accross deception pass. I’ll be attending it this year as well.

Last years crowd estimate was from 15,000 to 20,000. I'm not sure if thats bikes or peoples. Either way, it's alot of something or other.

It appears the VME are really trying to discourage non-members from showing up for their annual poker run. As we get closer to the weekend of the 30th, I'm seeing CL postings stating the Isle of Vashon was last Sunday (August 16th) and another posting stating it's Sunday September 13th. At one point, I even saw an ad for one of the hotels advertising vacancy for the weekend of the Isle of Vashon (however they didn't list a date), that CL posting has now been pulled. I just wonder if they were contacted by the VME and asked to take their ad down or if it were flagged for removal.

Either way, I'm not sure why it has to be so damn exclusive.  ::)

I'll be there on my 550- I've gone the last 4 years but this is the first time I've seen people posting the wrong date on C/L to hide the real date.  It's a great event but I wish they could somehow restrict it to vintage bikes only- too many new sportbikes & Harleys in my opinion.
