5 m.m. adaptors for kehin carbs
« on: July 29, 2008, 11:28:41 AM »
Anybody know where I can buy some hose bib to 5mm threaded fittings.

I have vacuum guages but no way to hook them up to carbs.

I have them on order from calif. sport touring, but they have been on backorder for two months.

thanks,

Mark

Yeah, FORGET California Sport Touring - I waited over 60+ days with endless excuses from them on where they were (the story kept changing, too) and I also had to call them, over and over, because they apparently can't use e-mail?!? I finally gave up and got them to refund my money - would have been nice if they just labeled them "Out of Stock" to begin with. They are about the most disorganized and unprofessional web seller I think I have ever dealt with . . . . .

I finally just bought mine on feeBay but there are several people here that have made their own. (from brass barbs, MIG tips, etc.) Search around in other threads.

SEE:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=23038.0 (home made manometer thread - also shows 'vacuum port adapters' and how some people made them.

ALSO:
Buy the adapters directly from Morgan (makers of Carbtune) at:

Just posted this 2 days ago on how I built mine:

Way easy if you have a drill, file, thread die, and hack saw. Took me about 5 min each fitting.

Well done - I especially love the hillbilly metal lathe action. .  .lol.

I kept trying to figure out on how to make my own using a brass bolt or the regular barbed fittings (ones with threaded base) but didn't think of using the double barbed fitting, like you did - nice!

I actually have acess to a full metal lathe and milling machine, but with how little material you need to remove from the barb and the time to actually work the lathe, these little babies were done way quick. I had one done in the time it would take me to drive to my parent's house (where the lathe is).

Just take the thread die slow, you can twist off that end with too much pressure (I made that mistake once, but had bought an extra because I figured I'd probably screw one up).
