Yep lose at least 5 inches bro, nice sound too.
Where the heck did you find mint pipes like that anyway?
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Eldar, show us some pics of your bike.  Off the top of my head, a peashooter is much closer to an engorged phallus than some weenie pipe with a slash hole on the end of it ;D  . . . I know he already has pipes; the pics from Benjies site was to show him how they might have looked turned up!!

I will have to get some pics up. Maybe I can swing that this weekend. I just cant see peas on a 77/78 with their more modern look. 76 and earlier, sure. I will try to get my bike cleaned up a little tonight as it has a lot of road grime on it and get some pics.

ProTeal, how much is way to long? 10inches?
I think you either need to shorten the pipe (muffler closer to motor) or as the others send kick the pipe up (ala BCR style). Either way you are on the right track..

His pipes are actually more like "reverse cone megaphones" than peashooters.  A bit more stubby.  Infact, quite similar to the end details on the stock 750K8 pipes (which are only slightly more streamlined looking than the pre77 stock pipes)  Not sure I agree with your stylistic conclusions Eldar, but of course, to each is own.  BTW it would be hard to get more masculine / phallical than the stock 77/78 K pipe end detail!

I think you may be surprised. The stock pipes were nice but when I got my bike, they were all rusted out so looked like crap. When I put the slashcuts on, it looked really good.

overall its a very classic look, although I would shorten them to be even with the end of the rear tire...

Thanks guys for the input, it all helped.

1 problem I'm having is their is slight leak coming from the header exits and muffler entry joint. I need to somehow fill that gap something like solder/silicone/? I really have no idea what to use that wont burn off. Anyone have experience or an idea for filling that slight gap (and clamps aren't working)

I'm not going to tilt it up like benji's, because when you do that it looks "cool" but you have to bend them away from the bike also to avoid the rear axel. OR put them above the rear axel which would be an incredible bend that would probably ruin the headers. I think I'll slightly tilt it up till it's at least doesn't look like any sag or possibly a slight tilt up (like my old exhaust)

I would say 3 inches too long but i love the look and the sound.

I'm going to shorten them an inch and bend them up a 2-3 inches.

That should do the trick.

Not sure, without seeing, what your leak is like but check this link out. Permatex has some good stuff in my experience.

http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_sealants.htm

I think exhaust in that area you described is in the 200 degree range, someone correct me, so maybe the Super 300 or Aviation brush on might help. A problem area might be vibration over time; depending on the leak, sealer might not be enough. Pix?

Good luck. :)

edit: look at the 1372 stuff too!

On my pipes I used epoxy called steel stick or something like that. You twist off what you need, kneed the stuff till it is all mixed and wrap it around. I had to do that since I do not have a welder. Been like that over a year now and seems to work good. Just a little unsightly but since it is hid mostly from view, except fora little bit, it is not bad.

You can always build your own with some cones and bends.  I just found some breat Permatex stuff in a pressurized 4 oz. can called "the Right Stuff".  Says it goes to 500 degrees.  The person who turned me on to it uses it to see all the pipe joints on their new bikes.
