Just got off work an hour ago. Sitting here listening to an old gem on my turntable. The Mahavishnu Orchestra-Birds Of Fire-1973. John McLaughlin is another guitar great although not as recognized. You guys have sure been putting alot of you tube clips on. I need to go back through and check em out.

A couple of years ago, I felt there weren't any new artists that were worthy of listening to.  I continued to listen to what most consider oldies from the 70s an 80's, where I thought most popular music died.
Turns out, it was simply the Music business machine stifling some really talented artists, and promoting only those they could create and "own".  Almost by accident, I "discovered" a whole new avenue of pretty good work made quite recently.
Here are some of those "discoveries", for you to peruse.  Each has something to say different from others. So, I encourage you to sample them all, in turn, perhaps over time.    They all have real musical talent, even if they don't conform you your personal taste.  I hope you enjoy at least some of them.

Music is not dead, is it just being hidden by the popular music business.

Cheers,

Skip the first couple minutes if you just want to get to the music.

This song just makes me laugh...  every time.

This may not make you drive/ride fast, but this is a COOL version of a great song:

Ray Charles - Ring of Fire

It would be a great driving song if you're going through the countryside at night...
