I just got a '75 cb550k as my first bike.  It's so much fun and so easy to ride.  Anyway, glad to know there's a place to come for info about these bikes!

Yeh, welcome.  Ton's of great advice to be found, but there's at least this one hack in here as well that you should never listen to.   I'm not going to tell you who they are. 
Hint:  they chopped up their frame and wondered why issues started popping up :)
